. . . change something in mid season but after having a doe easily jump the string opening weekend and noticing a noisier and noisier set up over time . . . I let the whisker biscuit go. I tried all the other options but the rest was the problem. I went back to the prong style rest I used for years but I'm gonna try a drop away. It worked though, the buck at 24 yards never flinched. At least until the arrow hit him.

Good to hear. Luckily I never got a WB because my bow hunting friends told me to stay away. Congrats on the buck.

Is the problem with the WB that they are too loud? Am I getting that right?

I love the wisker biscuit, I think the ones that are noisy are using to large a arrow for the biscuit. Mine has a little room around the arrow, and have drawn on a doe at about 8 yards in a ground blind and she never heard me.

Helomech, that makes sense to me. I do hear what the other's are probably talking about though. I'm using Carbon Express Lite Hunter 6075's and I have a gap also, like you described. It's a sssshhhh sound as you draw. It sounds like it could be pretty loud at 7 am in the woods though.

HunterTed, list all the problems you have with them. I bought a used bow already setup with a WB. I hear the noise it makes when I draw. So what else sucks about them? What would you suggest for a rest?

My buddy has a fall away that has a felt coating on it that is real quiet. That felt coating on the ends of the whiskers, like a hair brush has those beads on the ends, would quiet that down a bunch maybe. I know it's an "out there" idea but that's me. Thoughts on the idea?

I am using exteme hunter by gold tip, 55/75 and hear nothing from my rest. I have heard people complain about accuracy with them, but I can hit the bullseye at 50 yards with mine. It shoots more accuratly than I do.

I like that the fletching goes through the bristles and not bumping around the rest on its way to the target. But I do hear a distinct noise when I draw mine. I wish they'd come out with a version that had some little felt ends on the bristles (similar to a hair brush)and fewer bristles also. I'd like to see HunterTed's other issues with the rest though. The more input, the better.

They make one that only contacts the arrow at 3 points. The fletching does not touch the bristles.

Kelly, it seems that everyone either loves them or hates them. Clearly, the biggest advantage is they hold the arrow in place, and this makes for a safe rest to use. For this reason, when my son & daughter first started shooting bows, I went with the WB rest on their bows. In fact, my daughter, at 14, still has the WB. The problems I've seen with the WB is the noise that's described above, they tend to give up some arrow speed because of the drag on the arrow, and they tend to be less forgiving than the drop away's. Notice, I didn't say less accurate, I said less forgiving. If you have problems torquing your bow, then you would probably shoot a little better with a drop away. Otherwise, you may shoot just as well with a WB than with a drop away.

I have a G5 Expert II I'm willing to part with. Don't think there is a quieter drop away out there. Just wasn't fast enough for my bow.

If the WB caused you to lose a shot and you KNOW that is the problem you are wise to make changes, regardless of where you are in the season. I've never used one but it seems to me like you would lose some arrow speed with one.

Don't get me wrong, I liked the rest and killed several animals with it over the years. It was an extra slapping noise and a buzz on release which I finally determined was the little plastic holder that the actual whisker ring sets in flexing and hitting on that ring. I might have could used something to shim it up but it seemed like more trouble than it was worth at this point in the season. I'm actually thinking of putting it on my bowfishing set up. The accuracy was not an issue although I think it is better with the other rest I have on there but when you have the bow laying in your lap and draw and realize the arrow wasn't automatically in place you miss the biscuit. And it may just have been time to replace it with a new one but I had the other in my box so . . .

IF you want to go with a drop away, give the limbdriver a try. That is all I will use now. Easy to tune, easy to instal, you will never have any problems with it dropping fast enough. Also it does not put stress on your cables.

Yep limbdriver is a good rest. Like Wes said extremely easy to tune. Plus if you get to your stand and forget your tow rope, you can always use that monstrosity of a cable that goes from the rest to the upper limb for one............
