We had a GREAT time!

Started the morning off with 73 hunters on roughly 300 acres. There was absolutely NO over crowding.

What a beautiful start to the season with an awesome sunrise!

The birds started to fly:

Put groups together and best of all had 30 Kiddo's on the hunt!!! up

GREAT seein' Dad's and their Kiddo's out hunting!

Had the Game Warden stop by at 6:35 am and started checking hunters...

After Checked they got back to business!

Had a lot of pairs and singles

Which was perfect for a Father and Son hunting:

And the Kiddo's Enjoyed shootin'!

Even the Wives and daughters enjoyed coming out and having fun!

After the morning hunt we headed back to base camp:

Had cleaning tables, water, towels and ziplocks for the hunters:

Then it was off to Nocona, TX to eat some good Ole Fashion Dickey's Barbecue!

After lunch we headed back out, we mixed it up a little and positioned hunters near water holes and flyways to them...There was quiet a few that were limited which made room to get those that still lacked some to be in prime locations for the evening. (as we had 6 water holes to hunt)

As the afternoon started to turn into evening the birds began to fly real good and several hunters made short order of finishing their limit or getting close to it.

From scouting the day before we knew birds were coming to the ponds pretty good in good sized groups:

Then the Sunset on another Opening Day of Dove season:

We had a GREAT time...
To the best of our knowledge we averaged 7 birds per hunter in the morning and averaged 5 birds in the afternoon = 12 birds average per hunter for the day. There was quiet a few that limited in the morning or were very close.

So for those that want to know 12 birds X 73 = 876 birds

Each year we learn a little more...Look forward to many more years of this! up

J.J.

Bump for some great pictures. Did you take those or was it Kent Outdoors's official photographer?
