I'm fairly certain I'm missing something simple but I'm stumped! Bought a brand new 600 lb All Seasons Stand & Fill corn feeder Saturday. Got it set up Saturday afternoon. Pre-test the motor/spin plate while the feeder was on the trailer. Plate spun free and fast, even vibrated the trailer since the feeder was empty.

Put 600 lbs of corn in it. Press test...motor sounds normal, spin plate barely turns at 1 rotation per second. Won't throw corn out from under the feeder, barely knocks it off the plate!

Checked connections, all looks normal. Charged the battery over night and hooked everything up Sunday. Same result, motor sounds normal and plate barely moves.

What am I missing? What's there to check next?

How many seconds is the test cycle set to run for? Also check the spacing between plate and funnel opening.

Check and see if there is a allen screw on the spin plate, might not be tight enough with a load.

Test cycle set at 5 seconds and also tried 15 seconds. No difference. Adjusted space between the plate and funnel as well with no success.

Allen screw! Could be, I'll check into it

I stepped on a rattlesnake Saturday night. Be careful out there folks!!

What spinner plate? Regular round, gated or eliminator?

It does sound like the set screw is not tight enough then on the shaft. I have seen a gated plate that was faulty. Were they crimp the center hub to the spinner plate was not done correctly. Motor would turn fast and spinner plate under load was not turning but slipping.

Perfect, I'll look into that. I have an eliminator plate as well. I'll just swap out the gated plate then test and tune. Thank you stxranchman

it's the set screw if the motor sounds normal. There's really no need to change the plate out unless you want to change it anyways. If you are going to have the plate off though test the motor and put your finger on the shaft and apply pressure if it turns quickly then it's fine.

Verify battery is good. Just putting it on a charger doesn't mean that it took the charge. Only issue I have ever had from all season feeders were weak/bad batteries. Good luck!

Thanks gentlemen. It's a Phillips head on my unit but it was the set screw on the spinner securing it to the shaft. Tightened it and hit test. Good lord this thing will throw. Thank ya!
