No. You either need to carry both or make sure your license has your HE number on it. Most do as it is,linked by SS# in the database I believe. They couldn't implement a restriction to not sell a HL if the person doesn't have HE due to various reasons.

They checked everyone in the field except me and the guy I was with. I guess we were too far out and down in a gully they either a: didn't see us or b: didn't feel like making the walk

We were visited yesterday in an area full of morning doves. There were few white winged or tipped doves. There were a few eurasian doves but mostly mournings. The guys 100 yrds from us were knocking down birds left and right. Other people were like us a letting the mournings pass. They even shot a duck that was flying low. When we got visited by the wardens they jumped in the trucks and left. My sons buddy mention the duck and the wardens took off. We could see them at a distance that the wardens had them stopped for at least 30mins. I hope they got a nice fat fine.

they came in on us in the pm. Could have busted one for not having his license in possesion, one for no migratory stamp and one youngster not hunting with adult. No tickets issued. First game warden on the property in my 48 years of hunting it.

Had one visit us this AM. He had seen 1/2 the guys the day before. A quick check of bird numbers and an ever faster look at license then was on his way. Very nice very professional no tickets.

It's the hunter that has to carry the proof with them

Saw the GW drive by, but never came in the gate

Nope, we asked him that and he said it is not academy's responsibility. We asked him that exact question.

"I Fought the Law, and the Law left"

This is more of a County Sheriff visit story. My friend and I were hunting in N Tarrant county Monday off 287 on a 600 ac. piece of property leased from a farmer. The property is divided into two 300 ac. sections. We were hunting in the afternoon on the south end of one 300 ac. section where approx. 30 hunters were across the road hunting. An hr into the hunt where we saw great action mostly across the road a Tarrant County Sheriff pulls and tells us to lay down our weapons and what are we doing on this property. I show him our owner property approval form and he states we are discharging a firearm in the city limits and he has contacted the Ft. Worth city to come and investigate. Meanwhile remember the 30 guys across the road are still discharging their firearms the whole time this guy is standing there. He shows me a map on his computer that proves this property is within city limits and we wait for city cops to show up. In less than 15 mins. 3 more sheriffs units pull up respond to the "Shots fired call". We are all standing there waiting for the city to show up while hunting continues across the road. 15 mins. pass by and the city says they have a unit on the way. 10 mins. go by and then the big boom. City reports to the county that, in their words, "All reported shows fired call to the city have been cancelled due to opening of hunting season" Only in Texas. The county says we have no jurisdiction to ticket and leave. What a mess.

On that size of property that was annexed recently the city can't stop you from hunting. I don't have the law in front of me but I believe that annexation had to occur sometime before 198X.

We had two different visits from game wardens around Anson, TX. First guy showed up opening morning. He got his truck stuck in the sand and waited until one of our hunters pulled him out of the sand after he sat there an hour or so. He checked three of our group until he realized he was stuck. After that he just visited with us until pulled out. Second visit was Monday morning. The warden (different from the opening morning guy) started out driving from hunter to hunter in a huge field and continued to check magazines for plugs on every hunter he saw in addition to checking for licenses. He did all of the checking right in the middle of the busy hunting time when birds were flying. I can't ever remember seeing a game warden in all the years I have hunted or fished in Texas. I've been hunting and fishing here since '89.

Hunted Montague County.

Shooting time was 6:34

Green Truck pulled in at 6:35

Had 73 hunters, He check 80% of them.

Wrote Warnings on 2 hunters
1. Dad had 2 kids, one 14 one younger, younger didn't have a license, Dad didn't know he had to have one...
2. One kid didn't have a Migratory stamp

Wrote 1 ticket
1. Dad borrowed two guns from a friend to take his boys on their first dove hunt. Neither gun had a plug. Dad was very frustrated with himself. (he knew it was his fault) GW told him he was sorry, but he HAD to write a ticket, but was only going to do it for one gun. (which was cool of him)

GW Landowner and I stood and talked a little bit and had some laugh's watching the kids shoot and miss some easy birds...

Then said have a nice day and he was gone for the day, and we didn't see him on Monday.

It was good to see him out there, and enjoyed our conversation!

Amazing how many people don't read the book and know the laws. But it has to be the person at Academy/BPS/Cabela's fault who sold them the license rofl

It is YOUR responsiblity to know what license you need and buy it.

Resident and non-resident youth may purchase the Youth Hunting License for $7. Youth are exempt from state stamp endorsement requirements. Federal Duck Stamp is required at age 16.

We got checked yesterday morning after 9:00. Three of them showed up to the field. Caught one group ditching birds because they were over limit.

The one that checked us was very polite, courteous and nice. Checked license, gun and bird count.

A buddy left early and left his limit with us because he had to meet his wife somewhere. So, he wrote out a resource document on paper. The warden told us technically we have to use the form that is in the book. Some wardens would still ticket for that. But he went and got one out of his truck, told us to fill it out while he was there and added it to the written document. Chatted a while and he gave us his card in case we got stopped again or needed something in the future.

Side not on hunters ed card. He confirmed that even though it is listed on your license, you still have to carry the card per the state law. He said some wardens will ticket for it and some will accept it just on your license. I have also heard of wardens calling in and verifying. But I carry my card. It is not hard to put it with your license in the pouch they give you.

Had several other folks I know hunting elsewhere that got checked. Lots of hunters ed tickets being given this year. They must be cracking down.

I don't have to carry my hunter ID card. The number is on my license. The fact I was born long before 1971 is a moot point in this discussion. whistle

man i was buying trying to buy some "red drum" tags so my son and I could tag some big ole reds down in Galveston. Well the nice lady at Academy in Plano didn't know what the heck she was doing grin I didn't get one for my son because she said he had no fishing license so he couldn't get a tag.

So we get to Galveston, ask about the tags right before our charter left, and they told us we needed a tag if we wanted to keep one. Well dang, so i had to haul ace up to a shop and get him a tag bang
