Me and a buddy finally got drawn for archery deer either sex. We are going to try to make it up there and do a little scouting before the hunt.It is hard to find any good maps for here. If anyone has hunted there or know much about this WMA i would appreciate any info. Thanks in advance

When I hunted there, the whitetails were more numerous in the Eastern pastures. You can find them anywhere though. After they get your fee, they will send you a map with the boundary lines of the pastures. You better bring your hiking boots, that WMA is HUGE!

I've heard it is a really good place. We have a lease prob 45 miles from there. I hope they have been getting as much rain as i've heard our lease has. thanks for the info on the eastern pastures we will be sure to look at them first

Have been in and out of that area since the 70's and seen lot of good whitetail and mulies............The success rate is very high---especially with a bow. Good place to bow hunt for a good mulie ! Have fun and good luck....

Sorry to hijack your post hansond, but I have a question about Matador also. Can you go out there and just hunt for mulies or WT? I've been trying to find a place to do my first mule deer hunt and I've gone through the search for public hunting areas for them, but for some reason, I'm just not finding it. Any help is appreciated. Sorry again for the hijack hansond.

It is all by drawing. you can find it under the tpwd website under public hunting. we have been putting in for about 5-6 years for about 6-8 different hunts and this is the first time for us to draw a hunt

So is there any place to publicly hunt mule deer?

I went on the ADE hunt there a few years back. We hunted the Dogleg pasture. Seen a lot of whitetails (all does). The only thing i got with bow range was a mulie doe. Think there were only 2 does taken on our hunt. The place is real nice. Can't take your truck off the road. We didnt want to get a deer from a 1/2 mile away back to the road so we didnt venture into most of our unit. Good luck
