Area reports not looking good. The drought has prevented farmers from planting milo the past few years.

We made limits today. Numbers are of birds are down. Took about twice as long as usual to make limit.

quick limits down at Margaret SW of Vernon, but the birds were clumped up good, either feast or famine yesterday

I hunted here near Vernon this evening and it was amazing. I saw more birds than I've seen in 5 or 6 years for sure. Will be here through Friday, hope it stays like it was this afternoon!

In relation to the city what part of the country did you hunt? Reports at the gun and coffee shops is it is a poor year for dove. I hunt south of town and we're not seeing as many as last year and it was awful. Also hunted a tank just north of the Pease river one evening and didn't see much flying in. Just curious where you are seeing the birds... By the way, if you're up this weekend send me a pm and we'll get together for a cup of coffee. Always good to meet THF'rs

We are just North East of town, I don't know exactly how far, but we are staying at the Green Tree Inn, we head North but not far maybe 5 or 6 miles then head east about another 4 or 5 miles. We are hunting a few small tanks, there are two of us, I'm at one, my buddy is at the other one. I saw more birds yesterday evening then I may have ever seen, I'm telling you they where thousands it looked like. This morning was slower, but in my experience the mornings are typically not quite as good at tanks as the late afternoon, so we'll see how it goes this afternoon. There seems to be some wheat fields off in the distance, every bird I've cleaned has been full of wheat.

I'd love to meet up with you, we are leaving after we hunt Friday morning, I have another hunt lined up back home on Saturday.

I know my directions are sketchy, but I don't really know this area all that well, I just follow him and I've been coming up here for about the last 4 or 5 years, but never seen birds like I did last night.

That is mostly the reortts we are getting. Hunters are having to work all day to get limits. But hey, a limit ain't all bad.
