I am looking for a little help and maybe even a partner for the upcoming duck season. I need a hand building my blinds on post. I have already got permission from DNR, and the Wardens to build them, now just need a extra hand in putting them up. At least one of them will only be accessible by boat, to try to help keep the destruction down to a minimum. Last year I put up a blind and some JackWagon used it and tore the front of it all up as a place for his dog to exit the blind, instead of going around.... So if you are interested please let me know via message. If not, well good luck to you on the upcoming hunts....

If you build a blind on public, expect someone to use it, and even change it up for their own use. Just because you put the blind there does not mean it is your spot for the season.

Public is first come first serve. Never a guarantee your blind won't get used. One year I found a good spot with birds and hunted it from the trees. Next time I went I was there first and someone was so kind as to build me a huge blind to sit in 3 ft from the trees. Guess who used it.
If I build a blind or any cover on public I basically expect it to be used if found by another or be messed up in someway. That way you aren't disappointed.

If you built a blind you might as well make a dog ramp. If you don't the other hunters will kick out the sides to allow access or the dog.

You will never know where I hunt. I leave no trace. You build a blind in an area I want to hunt. You better get there first. I will set up 100 yards down wind of Your blind.

I'm with LTMF. I try to leave no trace behind and hunt low profile. It is always annoying to come back to a spot like an open bank or sand bar I have been hunting with a layout blanket blind and find someone had built a big elaborate blind on it that is guaranteed to flare all the birds off. Not to mention drawing every hunter that comes up on it to come back and hunt out of it.
Ponds on a military base might be a different kind of situation. People can't just walk up and hunt whereever they want. There are some hoops to jump through. Still, sgt, you might want to consider a portable blind of some sort. Permanent blinds can't be moved. Then when water level or other Conditions change, where the ducks want to land changes, your blind will be in the wrong place and difficult to move. And as said people will modify them, even tear them down. And if they leave a bunch of hulls and trash behind, the blame may fall on the guy that built it.

I love the public land blinds, they're are a warm place to take a chit when there's a cold northern chappin my cheeks! Do a fella a favor and throw some butt ribbon in there!
