Never used live animals for luring in coyotes, is it more productive then a call and electronic rabbit? Need something to keep the wife entertained while hunting this weekend.

A few years ago I had this strange desire to trap a bobcat. A taxidermist buddy of mine told me he had surefire way to do it that he had personally used. He said get a live rooster and put it in a box/cage and attach it to a live trap on the bait end where the bobcat could see through the live trap and see the rooster (leaving the one side of the box/cage open where it is attached to the cage).
I stayed up a bit and shot a coyote the first night when he came to the rooster. I moved the trap and the second morning when I went to check on it.... the box was all torn up, tipped sideways and the rooster was dead inside (I assume it had a heart attack from the stress of his visitor that night). Whatever it was wasn't able to get to the rooster.
I didn't ever try it again.

I didn't ever try it again. We have used this tactic to catch 2 bobcats, 1 fox, and too many coons to count. Leaving a chicken in a small cage and overwatching from a blind brings in Coyotes also.
God is so good to me.

I took a chicken and shackled one leg with a string. This allowed him to walk and flap around. I killed a coyote on the first stand. I tried 4 more stands afterwards to no avail. I took the chicken back to the owner. I also tried a rabbit once and had no luck. The dogs just were not there at the time

I didn't ever try it again. I heard those bigger gators are pretty rough on those wire cages. Course, could have been the black panther, been some time since we heard any reports of that monster.

In my opinion with predator hunting you lose all of the thrill of the hunt when using electronics or bait. Get a few hand calls and learn how to use them, there is a thrill that cannot be described when calling in a predator with a hand call. It's work, not easy, but a challenge that some cannot master.

Put chicken in cage. Then fox pro call near chicken and use chicken sound to draw coyote in. If wife get bored, dress her in lion costume and she can crawl on all fours while you play mountain lion in heat tape.

I haven't tried the chickens but have heard a lot of success stories using them catching yotes and bobcats.
