Anyone know where I could buy some of these? Somewhere between Victoria and Houston. The Lamco and All Seasons ones are nice but I don't really want to spend $700 per feeder. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

You can build the tripod with winch included for about $50. Build a top plate with 3 pieces of 2" pipe at about 20 degree angles. Buy a joint of 2 3/8'' pipe and cut your legs to the length you want them and you are ready to go.

Then add the barrel and timer of your choice $50 more.

You should be able to get one built for around $100

Maybe maybe if you just got loads of scrap metal laying around in your yard, but if you have to buy material there is no way... you know how much a good pulley and cable will cost you? Not for a 100.

Put your money in the crank. Get one with a brake and save your knuckles. The higher priced ones are probably complete with funnel, timer and motor but many just have boat winches. They are dangerous.

Ive had my runins with the clutch winches enough to say I don't prefer one over the other. They are hell when they're well but they're sick most of the time... sucks when you cant crank your feeder down because the winch wont release.

Pipe...1.30 per ft x 30ft = $39
Winch and Pulley...$25
Barrell $5
Timer $39
GRAND TOTAL OF $108

But then again thats why Texans spend over 14 billion dollars a year on hunting and fishing.

I sell feeders and will be happy to sell you one for $700.

Stay away from these things. I have 6 of them and last year one of the cable clamps (I use two per end) came loose and the drum fell almost hitting my son.

I realize that this not not likely to happen, but it did. I won't buy another one.

Well you forgot cable, and if you only use 30' of pipe your gonna have a short arse feeder. You already busted your 100 bucks and what are you making your top plate out of, mounting hardware for winch etc. Yeah if you make feeders for a living im sure you can get your winches pulleys cable drums etc cheaper, but an average joe do it yourselfer that doesn't already have the materials laying next to his garage isn't going to do it for that number. What about legs on the drum? Not close to 100.

I converted my Monarch feeders to crank up using a Moultre kit I got on eBay. Pipe for two feeders set me back 90 bucks, six pieces of 21' pipe cut to 15'. Do get a good winch though, one you have to crank up and down, not one that will free wheel, that feeder can weigh 600 lbs, I think, if you fill it.

A crank up feeder is like a loaded gun you never point the gun at something you don't want to kill and you don't stand under winch up feeders simple rules.

I've been using a crank up for the past three years without any issues, until I changed over from 12ft legs to 14ft legs! So installed an electric winch on it. Seems like that extra 2ft. with 300lbs of corn was just a tad bit much to lift! I was use to using the boat winch since I have to load a 20ft Triton bass boat, and know what a boat winch can do if you screw up!

Although we made our top section, you can buy the ready made top sections on line or several dealers carry them. Some of the cattle at our lease could barely reach the bottom of the feeder, when I had 12ft legs.

I make my own feeders as well. I like to know where you get all your supplies. I can't even make one for under $150.
You also left out all the hardware that goes with them!!

Let me clear up some misunderstandings.

I sell feeders for a store that I am a consultant for. I dont make and sell my own feeders.

I have built a couple of my own winch feeders for my own ranch this year and have built them for a few bucks over $100. I buy used pipe, used barrels, used cable and hardware, a new timer and winch and can of spray paint.

I like to build stuff and see how cheap I can do it and it still be of quality. I am currently working on a 4x6 deer stand on a 10ft tower made of metal that will cost me about $500 when completed.

We always ratchet strapped a winch to a tree and threw the cable over another tree that we wanted the feeder to hang from. Way cheaper if it works for your situation.

That won't work in our area, you would have to "hire" some trees that are tall enough. clap

Mesquites are not so friendly for that. I cant even hang a tree stand or latter stand.

The 300lb winch up 12 volt feeder is $499. He has more products than shown on the web site and he sells the individual pieces. The ones I bought had the 350lb barrel and solar panels. Added the Eliminator Spinnerplates to keep the coons out.
