I'm getting my 9 y/o son his first bow for his birthday this weekend. He is right handed in everything he does (write, throw, bat, etc) however he is left eye dominate and shoots a rifle left handed. Any suggestions on left or right?

Get him shooting left handed, I am the same way, plus it will strengthen his left upper body. If he is athletic and likes baseball, teach him to bat left handed also---Lance Berkman is a prime example.

I agree have him start out left handed, might be awkward but will be better in the long run.

I do everything in the world right handed, except shoot. My dad was the same way and recognized this early. Don't force him to go right handed with a bow, much easier to shoot a firearm right handed with a dominate left eye than a bow.

Go with the eye dominance. I am the same way, right handed in all I do except shoot a bow. I did not know about eye dominance until I had been shooting 8 or 9 years. When I switched and learned to shoot left handed, the difference was scary.

Thanks for the advice. I picked up the infinity edge left hand model today. I can't believe the adjustability of that bow! Its amazing and now I'm more excited for his birthday than he is.

I am the same way right handed and left eye dominate. My 8 year old daughter
Is also left handed. I bought her the infinity edge three weeks ago from bass pro and she loves it. Just hope she sticks with it.

He took to the left hand model well, and within a day he is "on paper (8x11)" at 10 yds. One complaint I have on the infinity edge bow is the "spongi-ness" at full draw. It's been difficult for him to get a good anchor point because he cant exactly tell when he at full draw.

When I was young and that was many years ago, I was that way, my grandad made me a eye patch to shoot right handed. I adventually grew out of it when I learned eye control.

I have three boys - between us four we are ALL left eye dominant but only half are left handed. But we all shoot left handed.

Definitely go with the eye dominance.

Funny thing is that ALL of our tree stands are hung for left handed shooters. My right handed friends and extended family hate hunting on my property. All of the stands are hung oriented for left handed shooting! Pretty funny to me.

Go with whatever is most comfortable for him. I'm left-handed but right-eye dominant. I shoot a gun right-handed, but a bow left-handed. I could never get used to a right-handed bow.
