Need some help with snake ID, bastard tried to bite me while walking around at the lease. He has been turned in to a good snake now.

Not venomous but they will try to scare you off. We called them blue racers when I was a kid.

Coluber.......Mike C is right blue racer. Very fast, have been known to chase after folks. If I remember correctly they kill rattle snakes too

Yep, Coluber constrictor/Blue Racer. One of the good guys.

Poor snake. He was just running a bluff as evolution taught him to do. He would not have hurt you. If he had just slithered off in to the grass he would probably still be alive. When he tried to bite me while i was holding a shot gun, he signed his own death warrant.

Evolution should have taught him to get the heck away from someone with a gun  And to correct you, they will hurt you. I picked one up and he bit me 12-15 times before I could let him go. Picked him up and he did the same dang thing

To bad he's dead. We have them on our ranch and I believe they kill rattlesnakes. At least that's what I've been told.

Coluber constrictor. The racer. Our version is the western yellow bellied racer. Harmless and eats rodents. A very good snake when alive.
