I got a half dozen GHG Coot decoys on sale at my local Academy last night. They were clearenced to $14.99. I didn't know if they are any good to use with a duck spread. Like a confidence decoy or something. But for $14.99, I figured I'd get some anyways. Oh, they must be magnums too, cause they are about 2X bigger than any coot I've ever seen.
If any one has any advice on how to incorporate them into my spread or if they are even worth putting out, I'd sure appreciate that. I was thinking maybe put them real close to the shore by the blind to take attention off the blind. I know I always see coots right up in the vegetation line in the marsh...

Put out 2 or 4 on the edge of your decoy spread, close to shore is good. Good deal you got there.

I found some in clearance once for about the same price, and painted them like a teal, it worked man believe it or not. Haha

It was the only box on the shelf. That's why I jumped on it. And it was the only GHG's they had. I think they are no longer carrying GHG's. They don't have any online either...
Thanks for the tips on how to use them!!!

definitely worth putting out, First of all I like the contrast the solid black decoy offers especially around cover and when the coots come in to my spread they offer live action which only helps. A lot of my early "cheap" teal deaks got their beaks cut down and painted white, flat black with red eyes

i've used coots decoys for the past several seasons, a little contrast in the spread never hurts.
I got a woodie! Whoo Hoo
