Hey folks,
Can someone lay out the differences and advantage/disadvantage of one over the other between a green long range LED light (kill light??) and a green laser designator light?
In Joe Blow terms please...

Thanks, Dave

grab an Ultrafire green CREE LED off amazon for $15. I have been using one for years. Laser designators are good but you need one rated for cold temperatures. I have an ND3 that doesnt work well below 50 degrees. Most gun mounted lights will spook hogs sooner or later.

I have an XLR 250 in green. It doesnt seem to spook hogs much at all as long as you come down from the sky toward them. i use it on my bow all the time.

I've got the XLR-250 and it is great out to 100yards. Could probably use it beyond that in open country. Can clearly see my target and non-illuminated crosshairs with no problem. Green light seldom spooks the hogs. I use it for raccoons and they just stare at it for a while.

Just got one of these off ebay with a remote switch for 35 bucks and a barrel/scope clamp for another few bucks including shipping. Should satisfy my needs judging by the areas I've been invited to hunt so far.. If not, a 35 buck disappointment is better than 200... Can always send it back also....

Thanks for the input

Check out our lights at www.hogzillalights.com

Pros of a designator:
-Ability to adjust the size of the beam

Cons of the designator:
-More expensive
-Has issues with cold weather (unless sub-zero model)
-Not as rugged compared to a flashlight

Pros of Hunting Light:
-Cost effective
-Great out to 200 yards with green
-Durable

Cons of Hunting Light:
-Still may spook depending on usage and color

That's about everything in a quick format, check out our lights as we have a 30 day money back guarantee on our stuff.

Thanks,

Michael

I just bought an xlr250 in green. I didn't see enough of a difference in any particular brand to justify buying it. I've heard so much positive feedback on the xlr250's that I decided to buy one. Between the Raptor feeder/area light and the xlr250, I'll have all my bases covered with the best of what's available.
