Where to go to get some good info and maybe a how to with them trying to sell me on only the highest gear poss. I am in the DFW area.

DFW is big area, but you might try Cinnamon Creek or Smithfield Archery. Both can help you.

I've never been to cinnamon creek but I have been to Smithfield and they'll take care of you... I took my first bow up there when I was having problems and they tuned my bow and the older gentleman in there had me go get the arrows I bought and gave me about a 30 minute shooting lesson giving me the run down on everything to do an not to do. Good people up there

Go to a proshop with a budget and get the best bow you can buy with that budget. Out of all the gear I have bought over the years without a doubt spending extra on the bow has been worth it.
