Picked up a new shotgun this year and I have been thinking about adding a sling for dove/duck/teal. I have a new pup hunting with me this year and I have been thinking it will be nice to have a sling but I have never hunted with a sling.

Yall using a sling or no sling?

Never had a sling before but the public spots I'll be getting to this year I might add one for the long trek in

Sling. I carry a lot of stuff in.

No sling for me. If I'm walking in I keep my gun in the case, which has a sling, until I get set up.

I have one on my gun, but it depends on the spot i'm hunting on whether it gets used or not. It really doesn't get in the way, so I just go by, "It's better to have it and not need it then need it and not have it."

Have a sling on gun and a gun case just in case. As Russ said better safe than sorry.

Always used a sling. It frees up your hands to carry all the other crap that we duck hunters lug around.

I use a Claw sling.

You get used to it and forget it is there when you shoot. I used to think it would get in the way, nahh.

I have one, but I take it off when I get set up. No reason to have it in the way. I've had it catch on branches too many times.

If you duck hunt with a dog then you need a sling.

Scenario - you go to adjust decoys...dog steps on gun...hunter gets shot.

Don't believe me? Google "dog steps on hunters gun". Happens all the time.

Sling...always. Just makes it easier to carry the shotgun. Also at time the sling can help when I'm not holding it...set it up in a branch or on a nail in the blind, etc. The utility is too great not to use it.

Didn't use one for a long time. Put one on a few years back and I won't go back. Makes things a lot easier. Like they said I don't notice it's even there most of the time

I've always used a sling...just my personal preference.

I use one to haul in, but once I get set up at my site, I take it off. I just hate the way it gets in the way went I mount the gun. For me it's just distracting.

depends, layout blind no, everywhere else yes.

I run a Final Approach neoprene sling, it adjusts easy, keep loose so I can wear it, tighten it up when i'm hunting to keep it outa the way.
