I have some brown bear .223 REM made in Russia with "lacquered steel case' and wonder if anybody has had any problems with the cases

No probs. They shoot fine out of my 3-Gun rig. They were also pretty darn accurate considering the price. smile

Some people will B**** about steel cases.

Just shoot them and have fun. Your gun will be fine; everything will be fine.

If they don't feed reliably, see if your gun will feed brass cases reliably.

I've never used it (and never intend to) but some have said the lacquer on the cases can melt and gum up the chamber if you fire enough ammo rapidly to get gun really hot (which I ALSO never do...but might if I have to).

The lacquer is a pain to clean. No Sh*T!

I've used TULAMMO for a few years in training and competition. It's accurate enough out to 325 yards on steel silhouettes in the 55gr FMJ. The 62gr HP is great on hogs and whatever else out to 200 yards. (just haven't used it on anything past that distance)

Shoot it, have a BLAST! Pun intended....

Stay safe!

The Cases are not the problem unless you have an out of spec chamber. It's the bi-metal bullets that will eat your barrel out after about 6k rounds.

This is an epic test and read that everybody should spend time learning.

You are welcome.

Fwiw I prefer the lacquer coated casings over the polymer ones. The polymer 223 cases won't feed out of steel lip mags. Plastic mags will work fine with them though.
