Finally after rationing what little .22 ammo I had for the last few months I went into a Walmart in Gonzales and noticed something unusual about the ammo case, it had ammo in it!! So I quickly go to searching and behold several bricks of .22 ammo!!! I bought my limit of 3 bricks and went on about my day with a smile. After I got off work I swung by and I'll be danged, they still had 6 bricks left so I bought 2, I don't know if the ammo scare is finally starting to settle down or if it just so happened to be my lucky day but I can tell you there are some turtles in a stock tank that better start looking for a place to hide

I'm glad you got some ammo, but this is exactly why it's so hard to find. Even normal folks are buying way over their standard quantity when they can find it.

I do agree with you somewhat, but unlike some folks I'm not trying to stock pile it, I like to shoot my .22 rifle and I generally end up shooting about a brick worth of ammo everytime I get a chance.

I agree to a point but a father and son combo with two Ruger 10/22's and 25 round mags can burn through a pile of bullets in just a few hours.

Great find! For those of you that are giving him a hard time, he has done nothing wrong. Any one of you would have bought a sixth box just because you could. Before this craze I always had between 30,000-40,000 rounds of just .22. I have two sons that love to shoot, not counting all their friends, and I have 6 nephews who only get to shoot when they are at my house. I also (in the past) kept between 500-600 hand loads to any given rifle on my property. And because of this I didn't have to freak out like the rest of y'all when ammo got scarce. If I stumble across ammo or reload supplies for my arsenal ten I buy them. I always and I always will.

Any one of you would have bought a sixth box just because you could. Wrong. When the craze was in full swing I found a FULL case of .22 @ Walmart. I bought 3, my friend bought 3. Went back the next morning & it was still there(it was in the wrong location, on the floor, behind a counter. We could've bought the whole case but didn't want to be 1 of those guys.

Good! Hope everybody stocks way the heck up for the next panic brought on by electing more commies. The more ammo out in the hands of the public, the better, and the fewer people who will be caught unprepared, again.

Walmart in Bastrop has had .22lr on the shelf most early mornings when I’ve stopped by on my way to work. I just grab a couple of bricks a couple of times a week, so I’ve picked up 12 bricks in the last 5 weeks. (Mostly Federal 555 round boxes, and a few of the same Auto Match above)
Before people insult me about hoarding, I have 5 grown kids with spouses, 8 grandkids, nieces and nephews. Before the panic, 5K to 10K rounds of .22lr on the shelf, was typical around my house. I never bought one round from the scalpers during the panic - didn’t need to.
Now, that it’s back down around $0.03 per round, I’m quite happy to be able to help the younger shooters learn safe gun handling protocol, familiarization and solid shooting skills.
I also buy all of the Federal .223 55gr fmj I can get because the 100 round bulk packs are only $34.00 and it's great ammo.
Between inflation and potential new ammo taxes on the horizon, buying ammo now is a simple investment. If there were an effective way to buy and store a bunch of gas/diesel at $1.00/gallon, it would be a good investment because you know you will need it. Ammo is much easier to store.......

You are one of the very few. Because of my stock of ammo I never had to consider buying $80.00 ammo. I stayed stocked through the craze that supported the outrageous prices and shortages.

I just stop by on my way to work around 7:00 am a few mornings per week (it's right on my way) and pickup a few of these bulk packs each week. Got these Thursday with my 3 box limit, but they had 7 more when I left. Marc

I find all this talk about "hoarding ammo" kind of humorous. If everyone bought just a few more boxes than normal, the supply chain overloads. Our society is accustomed to everything being immediately available. When it's not - "it's the evil hoarders!"
As a kid, I grew up in the North East with blizzards, then in CA I experienced all of the bigger earthquakes in recent history. It was just plain dumb not have a reasonable supply of food, fuel, medicine and ammo.
A responsible person with a family, is prepared to be self sufficient for at least a few weeks. I have been for over 40 years, so the ammo/gun panic this year didn't leave me hanging. The next one won't either. A little here, a little there is more affordable and becomes meaningful over time.
Why are some folks are buying a little extra these days? Is it just possible that they have learned to plan ahead? Anyone who doesn't already see the next shortage coming, just isn't paying attention.
Marc

Love it, I use to buy that much at once before the crazy hit, probably every other month if not sooner. Four shooters in a house that love to plink and take others with us. I have gone shooting three times with since the craze and 6 shooters have gone (on top of my family) through that much 22 each time at a range, plus 400+ .45 ACP, couple hundred 9mm, pounds of various blackpowder supplies and whatever else I took to the range. We were well stocked on everything before the rush, the day off that shooting we went straight to three shops and doubled stock and have picked up whatever we can find like OP when we see it. Have been traveling and in WV we found a ton of 22, 45, 9mm and 30-30 (that was the real find!) and we got back to normal stock after spending two days shooting with friends and family.

I havn't purchased 22 lr ammo, nor shot any of my .22 lr rifles and pistols in two years. I used to shoot one of the rifles three or four times a week. If I have the opportunity to buy that much ammo in one trip I guarantee you I will. I will look at it as getting caught up. I don't care who it pisses off.
Well done, OP.
