Hey all. Which .22 pistol do you have? I like ruger, but know how hard they are to take apart and put back together. I am leaning toward the walther or browning buckmark. Also, what are your experiences with customer service? I appreciate your help! Troy

Troy, The Ruger is a fine pistol. As for it being hard to take apart and clean/reassemble. Once you do it a couple of times, it takes about a minute and a half to break down and reassemble. The little trick is very simple and I just don't understand why the myth continues about this "issue". They are usually very accurate and a lot of fun to shoot. Here's a pic of the MK-II Target model I finally picked up last year. Don't let the naysayers keep you from getting a great gun.

I have a Buckmark with a red dot scope on it and love it. It has a bull barrel and is a blast to shoot. I'm in the market for another one. I'm also fixin to buy a Heritage Arms SA in .22/.22 mag for $160 brand new (Academy had them for $150 a week or so ago). All of the reviews I've read said that they are excellent kit guns. At that price at least one of them will stay in my bug out bag. I've added a link below. http://www.heritagemfg.com/site/department.cfm?id=50

I have the Ruger Mark II and it is a fine gun, but not my favorite .22 simply because I enjoy revolvers more. I have never cleaned the gun and have no experience with customer service.
I don't think you can go wrong with either Ruger or Browning (even though I have no experience with the Buckmark).
As for the Walther P-22 and S&W or Beretta semi-autos they seem to have a lot of mixed reviews on other forums that are specifically devoted to firearms including the .22 forum. It does appear the P-22 has more fans on this forum and it may be that later improvements have corrected some of the earlier problems that were discussed on the other forums.
Look at all of them and shoot as many as you can and then decide based on what you like. You should be O.K. with any of them.

Like I’ve mentioned before I like Browning’s line of Buckmarks .22’s. I don’t consider the others to be inferior but to me the Browning fits my hand better, others experience might differ. The Ruger Mk II/III grip is different and given time I’m sure I could get comfortable with it. I’m not sure how big of an issue of stripping the Ruger is though. Don’t most .22’s run a bit better after a bit of ammo has been run though them? They do in my experience I’ve not had issues with the buckmark after several thousand rounds. I won’t declare anything other than Brownings as pos either you should have a good shooter whichever way you go.

+1 on the Buckmark. I've got a nickle plated Buckmark with over 100K rounds through it and my other quiet little friend... Forgot to add the Buckmark is much easier to take apart for a good cleaning than the Ruger IMO.

I have several, Ruger Mk 1 with the 4 3/4" tapered barrel a K-22 S&W 6" barrel and Older Hi-Standard with 7" fluted barrel All are fun to shoot but I would most likely grab the Ruger if I had to live off it. Mostly I just take the grips off and spray it with gun scrubber and run a patch through the barrel/very lightly oil (almost no oil) and its ready to go again. If I did it again I might look for a stainless in the Ruger with the short barrel.

If you have a Glock, you could get the Advantage Arms 22 conversion kit.

Perfectly legal. You simply need the right paperwork.
