I have a 2003 2500HD Silverado with factory radio. I'd like to find a way to connect my iPhone (for music) through the truck stereo system. The radio has an aux switch for the roof mounted DVD player. Is there an aux port on the back of the radio where I could plug in a 3.5mm cable and bring it out front to connect the iPhone? I don't need/want to buy a new radio. We're about to go on a long road trip and it would be nice to have this option.
Any stereo guru's out there?

I have something similar to this but older. Works pretty good.
Haven't had it in years but never spit any out. I am a sucker for happy endings and strapped cowboys.

I don't know if you can do that, but do you have a cassette player in the stereo? If so, you can buy an adapter that goes in the cassette player and plugs in to your Iphone. I have one that I have used in my 2004 Impala work car and it works fine. I believe I got mine at Radio Shack.

My 2002 Dakota had a female plug in the back where a CD changer would have plugged in. I ordered a AUX device from PIE ( http://www.pie.net/index.php). It was a pretty easy hook up.... then just ran a wire from it through my center console.

No cassette player and I've used the FM Modulator before and didn't really like it. Thanks!

My buddy just had a cable brought forward that attaches to his Iphone on the charging port (4 or 4S) and is controlled through the standard head unit. It was hooked up somehow to the back of the radio, but he had it done instead of doing it himself. I believe it ran about a hundred bucks.
Having said that, shot placement is key and there is only one level of dead. Us east Texans can't afford turquoise and elk ivories for jewelry. So we use hog tushes and coon peckers.

The one I picked up is not FM modulated. It's "auxiliary input converter". Search that phrase along with Silverado and you will get more ideas. Good luck.

That's the ticket skidmoore, easttexun is right, the unit costs around $120. Hmmm, I can buy a new head unit with a lot more features for about the same price. Decisions-decisions. Thanks for the help fellas.

Crutchfield has a nice Kenwood that only plays am/fm and an Ipod/iphone input that you can get for $100 includes shipping & mounting kit for your specific vehicle. http://www.crutchfield.com/p_113KMM100U/Kenwood-KMM-100U.html

a radio transmitter plugs I'm to your phone and you tune to a unused station and it will pick up the signal from the transmitter

That transmitter works, but the one we had really didn't give us sharp clear music. On our Honda Pilot, I found that it had a 3 plug connection (red, yellow, white), so I plugged in the Apple 3 plug cable and plugged the other end into the iPad and away we went with music. If that hadn't worked, the Honda folks said that for about $100, they could hook up an iPod plug to the back of the radio.
