Looking at getting a new scope for my Remington 700 BDL in 30-06, last scope I bought wouldn't stay sighted in for more than a couple shots. I really don't want to spend more than 200 and I need a scope that performs well. I have been considering the Vortex Crossfire II 4-12 Scope. It has A Lifetime warranty which I really like, but I have no experience with them. What would you suggest?

nsmike, well done.
Same questions revolve, just the way it is.

Cameraland NY has the Minox ZA3 3-9x40 for $199 right now. Much better scope than the Crossfire. There are a lot of decent scopes under $200, especially if you stay in the 3-9 range.

Save for a few more months and buy a better scope and eliminate this problem. I know Fireman disagrees, but I'm a big believer in put more money in your scope than your rifle.

Where did you get that from? I don't believe in that. I can walk into a gun shop, buy a $500 to $700 rifle, get a $1000 to $1500 scope and hit anything you want to 1000 yards on the same day. The rifles are that good, now days, but ya gotta put the right scope on em to get that done.

I've seen the pics of your set ups, doesn't look like you skimp on either end.

Ryan your Gorilla killed me. That is funny bro.
Corey, I would take a look at Leupold's VX-2.
It will last you a lifetime and optically very clear. Now it won't have all the frills of others that are out there there. But they will hold up to anything that is out there.

Skylar compare the Zeiss Terra to the VX2. I think the Terra is better.

I've seen the pics of your set ups, doesn't look like you skimp on either end. No harm. I spent the money on glass, then slowly upgraded the rest of the rifle, on the first one. The last build was rifle, then glass, but I knew what optic it would get before the rifle was finished.

Well, I like the Idea of a Leupold but due to me spending to much on guns lately I don't really have the money to buy another Leupold, that is way I have been looking at the crossfire. Plus I like the BDC option, does Leupold offer BDC?

Try to find a used leupold on eBay, or the vortex vipers are good I hear... Should be able to find either for around 200 and they are both very quality scopes especially leupold

And yes leupold has a bdc but I prefer the duplex, less clutter when I look through the scope besides you don't need much compensation unless you are getting beyond 300 yards

Go to natchez and check out the Weaver Nitrex TR One in 3-9. Lifetime warranty and excellent glass. 319.99 for 99.99. I picked one up and it is nice.

A Mil reticle, and Mil turret is your best set up for that distance.

If you need a good scope for the $ look at the Burris FFII, great scope for the money, right at $200.... now the 500 yard thing? I dunno. I did kill a yote at 375 with mine on my 308 tho

The glass on those is very nice. The turrets and their "special" reticle, not so much.

Thanks guys I appreciate the help. Believe me, I know I am asking for 500 dollar features for under 200. I am a younger hunter and it is hard to come up with a bunch of money to spend on a scope.

Look on optics planet. They have a Nikon 4-12x40 prostaff for $179w/ free shipping.
There are those who read of what others have done, then there are those like me who do what others read about.
