I would take a look at the new Nikon Monarch 3 2.5-10x42. The Monarch's have always had excellent low light vision. I have shot a lot of hogs with just moon light using my different Monarch's (various phases too). With your THF Discount that should put it around $368.

Leupold VXR- 3x9x40 ! It has a 30 mm tube which grabs a ton of light and also great glass!! Tomball pawn has them for either 459.00 or 479.00. Well worth the money. Oh yeah it also has lighted reticle !

If low light is your major concern, then go up to a 50mm objective to gather maximum light. This Vortex Viper would be a good choice and is under $400. Make sure you get the correct height rings to make a setup like this work on that AR.

To be sure of hitting the target, shoot first and call whatever you hit the target.

Vortex viper or diamondback

I went to cabelas to pick up the viper but they were out. After talking with the optics guy I got the diamondback with mils and love it! Out the door less than $200 and all the glass my .270 needs

The VXR is a sweet scope, had a 1.25x4 and just ordered one in 2x7. They gather a lot of light, shot pigs at night with no problem. Just ordered one from tacticalwholesalers.com for $404 plus shipping. The best deal I have found

x2 on VX-R or Vortex. I have the 3-9x50 CDS. Vortex is also excellent and a lot of scope for the money. I have a 6-24 vortex and its excellent. Also make sure you use a good mount. I prefer Larue but there are other good ones too.

Lots of choices normally on the SWFA close out site. I picked up a sweet Minox 3x10 for WELL under your budget earlier this year.

Nikon and leupold cant go wrong with either one. But honestly there are many other good scopes out there especially on a 400 dollar budget

Surprised everyone is advising a 40-50mm obj. for close up hog shots! I'd go no bigger than 33mm obj. if not a 24mm.

I recently picked up a Leupold Mark AR with mount for around $350. I just checked and Optics Planet has them at that price. I went with a 3-9x40 because my current upper has an A2 front post. The 1-4 would really shadow the front sight, even at 4x. It isn't visible at 3x on the 3-9. It won't matter on the M400, so get whichever power meets your needs. The combo I got was almost perfect out of the box. Without bore-sighting and on a fresh install; it was a tad high and right at 50yds. It took less than a box of shells to get on target and a few rounds left for fun.

The Mark AR is a great scope for the money.

We actually have kits, that include the Scope, Mount and Mags too.

Going by your requirements, I'd suggest the Nikon 3x32 P223 with P-series mounts, if for an AR. I just put this setup on my truck gun for around $200 and that leaves you ammo money. Good, clear glass and it's short and light.
