Small buck came in and had his tongue hanging out from chasin and another shortly after that was bumping, Then yesterday morning on another place he said a spike was chasing does around the feeder and a BIG buck came in and rubbed a tree and started bumping does...???

I was out a little east of Robert Lee and saw no sign of rutting activity. Bucks didnt want to be together though. Most of the bucks I saw were feeding heavily although 1 seven point seemed to trail off after some does, but he wasnt real interested. The big nine point I am hunting did beat up on some bushes, showing some agression. Certainly a doe could be in estrus now. I wonder if your cousin was in the middle of an early breeding party?

In your opinion, when is the rut usually in your area? I just started hunting eastern Coke county this year?

Here is my opinion even though you didnt ask me!

Right now I am hunting in the Blackwell area of Coke County (just north of Robert Lee)! The most rutting activity I saw last year was the 3erd week of bow season! I saw tons of deer that whole week and they were really chasing the does hard! Keep in mind that last year was the wettest that area has seen in about 50 years or so, and that can cause a early rut from what the experts say!

I also have hunted about about 7 miles east of Robert Lee on a different lease a few years ago and the peak rut was around November 10-12 both years I was there!

I am gonna say peak rut this year on our place will be right before rifle season starts on November 1!

I either saw a lesbian doe or a small spike last week. He/she hopped on another doe and got a few humps in. I was like, "OK?"

We are northwest of Water Valley and they are still in bachelor groups as of last weekend. They normally start the chase around the 3rd week of November. They look healthly because of all the rain though.

Hi Neighbor, we hunt Robert Lee as well. Young bucks always seem to act goofy before the does are ready. But as mentioned earlier above, you want to be in the woods late October through mid-November. Preferably a few days after the Full Moon and pray for cooler weather. After 15 years, I still cannot pinpoint it exactly. The deer are looking really good this year, again.
