Any word on if Springfield Armory will make an XDS 40? And if they are, anyone know a potential release date?

I could live with that.

44 mag is TOO big for it. 10 mm may be a little big for it too now that I think about it.

I would probably buy one in 40.

Depends on who you ask. I have asked that question many times, some say yes, some say no. I know a guy who shot 40 all the time out of his glock 10mm with no issues, so i tried it out of my EAA Witness. Worked fine, but not something i routinely do.

By the way no idea on the 40xds, but i would buy one in 10mm, to go woth my xds 45.

NOT a good idea if you like your fingers. Ever heard of head spacing?

I imagine Springfield will bring out a XDS 40. Just to complete the popular lineup if nothing else. Maybe in spring 2014?

I bought a XDS in 45 auto last month, and the dealer said they were coming out with a 40 later this year. He did not know exactly when.

That's awesome. I guess I will hold out and by an XDS 40, instead of the shield 40.

What is so special about the xds? I have not handled one. Is it that much better than an xd sc?

It may not have the capacity, but it is flatter and conceals better..
Not every gun needs to be a XDm with a 20 round 9mm magazine.

It would be a snappy little bugger. Love the 9mm

Most of the time, yes. But! I would not recoemmend it. For it to work right, the extractor needs to pick up the round when feeding from the magazine. The only way it works is if it does this. The extractor holds onto the case so the firing pin can hit the primer. If you have some rounds that do not get picked up and held by the extractor, you can have some problems when firing. Because of these high chances of having problems, I would not recommend shooting 40 in a 10mm. But I also know shooters who have tried it. It's not worth blowing up a pistol or damaging it.
