For those that hunt Whitney or aquilla they say changes are coming for next season. They allow baiting for deer. It's not a draw hunt for deer. No bowhunters Ed required. Could it go to draw hunt for deer or no more baiting allowed? I doubt bowhunter Ed required with such short notice. Any ideas on what changes are being made?

I doubt it. You never know, but it seems unlikely to me.

I hope its general firearms... their policy on not allowing slugs for hogs sucks

Changes are for this coming season. 2013 2014 per their website. I doubt a general firearm season. It used to be shotgun with slug or muzzleloader for hog and deer when I first started hunting there. I think residential areas have caused it to be archery only for big game. I predict either it goes to draw hunt or they get rid of baiting for deer. I know the baiting has caused lots of problems with folks "claiming spots" even if its public land. Those are my guesses at least.

Why do they say be aware of changes and not post anything? Sep 1 permits issued? Crazy, that they won't offer them in august in order to eliminate crowds. Map shouldn't change. It's corps land.. They have to have it for flood control. No baiting? No problem....

Looks like crossbows are now legal. See paste from Whitney website.
New for 2013-2014 Season
Crossbows will be allowed as legal archery equipment in accordance with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department regulations. See the TPWD Outdoor Annual for specific crossbow regulations.

I was just about to comment on the crossbow thing. So no medical waiver for a crossbow it seems. Nice. Hope we read that right. The date says 2012 2013 regulation though. I wonder if that will apply for 2013 2014 season.

The site is still setup for 2012 13.. looks like u can get permits on the 20th of this month. The x bow is for this year. They just haven't updated the sire yet for registration. No medical release required.
