I am trying to make a dvd for some family and friends and will consist of different hunting footage over the last few years. Some of the footage was captured on MiniDV and some on hard drive. I would also like to include some of the trail cam video clips I have. I can put all the footage in Sony Vegas and edit the clips but I do not know how to burn this video to a dvd or what kind of format it should be in since the clips are from multiple sources. The internet searches are a bit overwhelming with the technical language. Do any of you burn your on dvd's or have a program you can recommend using? Thanks.

I don't know Sony Vegas but I've been around video stuff for the better part of 15 years (ouch that hurt to say).
You need a DVD burning program. Sometimes video programs have this included but typically not. A quick internet search makes it look as though Vegas has this capability ( I see reference to Vegas Pro, not sure if its the same thing). Basically though, if you can get it in the Vegas timeline, there should be some sort of File/Export, File/Burn to DVD function. As long as Vegas can get the footage into the timeline, it should take it and convert it to the proper format for you.
If you have to get a program, I know its tempting to download a free one. They may work fine but in my experience, DVD authoring is a fickle beast so you might be better served to pay for a program.

Well I have been burning movies for years. I use AppGeeker DVD Creator to convert all files to .VOB format (VOB is the standard dvd format so it will playback in all players). Assuming the files your have are mov files, take a look at this guide: http://www.appgeeker.com/convert/burn-mov-to-dvd.htmlThe program can automatically convert the files into vob or something DVD reads, and then burn to DVD. It doing these all in one place. It's great for making simple DVDs with a couple episodes at a time.

+1 to brand1m, I'm not familiar with Sony Vegas either, but you should be to export it easily enough.
If you have a windows 7, Movie Maker should be preinstalled on there. For a MS product, it's actually user friendly and can easily export to a movie file that'll work on DVD players with a simple DVD-R disc.
