I am looking at getting a tripod and was wondering what brands, styles, heights, etc. that you guys have used and would recommend.
I would like it to be as versatile as possible to use for rifle and bow, North and South Texas. Any recommendations you have would be great! Thanks!

Strongbuilt Deluxe or Magnum tripods ..... best bang for the buck.

The Gorilla Quad is a nice tripod (got mine for $85 at the Sams closeout...LOL) but it is about 3 feet shorter then all of my other 16 foot stands. Some measure the 16 feet to the platform and some to the seat, and some to your eye level when hunting. I usually wait until after the season and but whatever is on clearance.

+2 on the Gorilla Quad Pods. After I replaced and moved the seat a little, it is great.
When someone calls you special it's not always a good thing!!

I happened to be at Sam's 2 days ago and saw the Gorilla Quad Pod. Looked like a good tripod, but hadn't really looked around much at that point to have something to compare it to.

Glad you did cause I was gonna. Strongbuilt Magnum for the money, but if you bow hunt you will have to modify the shooting rail. It's to tall for me, so I just drilled new holes and lowered it.

Gorilla Quad Pod no doubt, it is very well built, you better follow the instructios or you will never get it together. You had also better have some friends to help you put the thing up. It is heavy. I love mine, its an older one that does not have the full blind on top. Might upgrade one day but I will wait until the prices drop on those blinds before I do,

How is the concealment camo blind that goes around the top of the tripod?
Looks like when you add the cost of the camo blind to the rest of the stand...the gorilla is a great stand at a great price. I'm almost positive its the one I'm going to go with.

i have to say the ones i built are the best. they will last a lifetime and only cost me about $130 in material. plus the are "big boy" tripods. lots of room and very comfy. i just finished one today for fourtrax. will take pics of it tomorrow. here is one i built for cornhusker:
