Just getting into Bows and I am overwhelmed. I just trded for a stripped Mission Ballistic and I need direction on arrow rest, sight, stabilizer and any other accessories to get me started. Input on arrows/points etc... would be nice as well. Thanks fellas.

You are going to get a ton of people's opinions....

Me, I'm a one-pin sight type of guy. Loom at a Tru Glo range rover. QAD rest.

Nap apache rest, tru glo micro brite sites are the best budget site and rest out IMO.

As far as arrows. I don't think you can find a bad arrow now a days. Easton blood sports are a good light weight arrow for the price. The black eagle carinovers are also great arrows for the price

QAD rest, Quality Sights that are built strong. I shoot Spott Hoggs and love them. Black Gold sights are also nice for the price. The BEST stabilizer I have EVER used is a BSTINGER. For arrows you simply cant go wrong with any line of easton, but Axis are about as good as you can get for Texas sized game for the money. NO NEED to buy the full metal jackets unless you just want the extra weight for kinetic energy.

The Quad has a couple of rests. One with more adjustments. They are what comes with a mission package as well. Pros and cons of either level? I have heard good things about the bstinger as well. For 3d and or hunting which model?

I have the QAD Ultra-Rest HDX....as for the stabilizer I went with the 8 inch model I believe is the sport hunter model. I like it because it stabilizes well enough on 3-d courses, but doesn't hinder your hunting setups.

So the most expensive is the best? Fairly broad statement... I am interested in your opinion you just left me hanging.

I would buy what my budget allows, and if a few dollars short, wait or "up it puppet. " if not, you will go along for a konth or so and then find out what you bought is not what you thought it was. Then you are going to sell it, pennies on the dollar and get the other.

Now, I say this if you are going hardcore into it. If not and just want to do it for a cou of le of weeks or maybe a month, then you can probably get by with your purchase. I'm speaking from experience that dates back to the 70's and one who has soent WAY to much money in this addiction. Since the early 90's, I hate to admit, but I've probably spent close to 50, 000 dollars on bows and accessories. Thank goodness I haven't bought a new bow in the past year LoL.

I have always looked for the best I can afford with durability and function being a priority. But if you don't know the products you depend on experience to help you with names of products. I was hoping for suggestions. At 50 I have already learned to not just buy a bunch of lipstick.

Most of your higher end Trueglo sights will work just fine for target and hunting. If you are a low light, after dark hunter get a sight that will accept a sight light. They help. I use mine in early morning and evening in low light and it really helps me pick out a pin and spot for the shot. I've noticed this more the closer to 50yo I get. As for the rest it depends on the type of rest you want to shoot. A good affordable rest is the Whisker Biscuit. You will get a lot of negative opinions but I killed a lot of animals with one on my bow. Just shoot arrows with Blazer vanes and you will be fine with it. If you want a drop away rest the list is long. QAD makes some good rests and even though the lower end models aren't quite as easy to adjust they are still quiet and reliable and for well under $100 do the job just fine. I shoot the QAD Ultra HD but set my buddy up with the lower end model and he kills animals regularly. I shoot East Axis arrows. Affordable and durable. Are there better arrows out there? Probably but I shoot hogs, rabbits and coons as well as deer and exotics and that often ends up in ruined or lost arrows so I'm not going to spend a lot more when more expensive arrows don't give me enough ROI in accuracy or killing ability. You don't have to spend high end to have a good reliable set up that shoots well and is deadly. Good hunting.

I use a trophy taker drop away rest and a TruGlo range rover single pin. I love the single vertical pin, and switched to it after shooting a 5 pin Spot Hogg. The Spot Hogg was a fantastic sight but the TruGlo was significantly cheaper and I like it much better.
