I chose an adjustable caliper type release w/ a buckle and an adjustable trigger, and it automatically closes back up... but it is a tru fire. I have got some remarks that "real" hunters and "professionals" use Scott. I hate to buy another release for no reason...is there really a big dif between these two?

I don't know anyone who uses Scott, Most people I shoot with shoot tru ball. I shoot competition with tru ball and hunt with tru fire. I wouldn't pay much attention to what the professionals use as they usually use releases that are beyond what us normal guys would use.

Shoot what you shoot well be it Scott or Tru Ball! It's your equipment not theirs. I started shooting with a Patriot Jr.release, been about 5-6 years and still use it. have killed everything from rabbits, praire dogs,a few deer and nice oryx with it! It was only a $15 release but works for me! I have a Stanislowski and couple other brands but guess what is my primary release?
Brayden (Lazy L's Southern Comfort) you will be missed! You were more than a pet you were my reason to rise and return for many days! You were my rock! 12/26/03-10/25/13

Shoot whatever you like and what gives you confidence in your shots. If you're comfortable with what you've got, keep it! Nothing else matters.

I am fairly new to bowhunting and recently bought a Scott and was very pleased with it. I believe it was the silverhorn. Very sensitive trigger, hook release and 100 times better than a caliper release that I had. Just my .02

I had a true fire caliper... never liked all that much, got the Trufire Hardcore, LOVE IT... Hook for me from now on.
Never shot a scot so I can't comment but I think they are both good quality that shouldn't let you down.

Never tried the hook...caliper just seems more "trusty"...and it automatically closes! Of course, this results in my beard being "automatically caught" in the closing calipers after my shots if Im not careful! Anybody had any slippage issues w/ the hook type?

I've had several Scott's and now use a Tru Fire. I like the TruFire better.

I have killed a lot of critters with a 3 fingered leather glove. Back when I shot compound, I used a Cobra. Not to say that any of the of the releases are bad or anything, but I never could tell much difference between releases when I tried out friends. I never wanted to rush off to the store are replace my 20$ release for a more expensive one.

Scott are great releases. But Tru Ball are the best IMO.
