A few days ago, my daughter asked me if she could hunt with me this year. I told her yes, that I would take her and she could sit in the stand with me as we have done in the past. She replied, no, I want to shoot a deer (proud daddy moment). She's only 6 and I honestly don't think she could handle the recoil of a rifle just yet and she not strong enough to pull a compound yet. So I decided to try to find a decent priced crossbow for her. On midway USA's site, I found one. The price is decent but I wanted to know yalls thoughts. It's the Arrow Precision Inferno Fury. Shoots 235 fps with 55 ft-pounds of kinetic force. Is this enough to kill a deer in the area of 20-40 yards? Does anyone have experience with this particular bow or company? Any other thoughts on where I could find a crossbow in the $200-$250 range?

Bud, I'm not familiar with that crossbow, but looking at some of the details, it should have no problem taking deer or pig out to 20-25 yards for sure. 40 yards may be pushing it, only because of the age of your daughter.

I would say get it as soon as possible so she can start shooting it. I would have her shoot out of a blind while target practicing so she can put it all together.

Here is a youtube for you to check out:

Parker is a little more in price, just right size for a youth. Weight is only 5.5lbs.
