I posted something about this in the Off Topic section, and thought I should put it here also.

Here's the Swamp Dragon, which I designed and built. The action was made with scrap metal and an assortment of nuts, bolts, and springs from the hardware store.

So far as I know, it's the only underbarrel drum & nipple, striker fired, interchangeable barrel muzzle loader in the entire world. grin

If you're interested in the build process, I described it in a very long step-by-step post on another forum. See it here: http://www.huntingnet.com/forum/black-powder/373029-lets-build-gun.html

The barrel in the picture is a .54 caliber slow twist round ball shooter. It does pretty well.

Here she is with a .50 caliber fast twist sabot shooting barrel mounted.

OK that is COOL GUN, Are you using standard primers or the shotgun primer. Looks great and shoots great too. I'll go back and hit the link to review the build process. Keep us posted if you decide to build for the public.

Using #11 caps red bluff.

I considered setting it up to use 209 primers, with a pin on the striker face and a recess in the drum for the primers. But there really was no need. I mostly use GOEX, which ignites easily with the caps.

That thing is awesome. Beautiful gun and looking at it's first kill it seems to work just fine. I envy you mechanical guys. Sure wish I could do that.

NICE, flat bottom forearm for a good rest, straight grip, is it in white or stainless, and can the trigger be adjusted, is the sabot style capable of more than a 100 gr of BP?

Both barrels are in the white and polished OnHoPr. I'm sure that .50 caliber barrel is capable of charges up to 120 grains. It was made by Green Mountain for Knight rifles.

I got it last year as an "Internet Special" listed on their web site.

Great groups with fffg. I tried it I both my 50 cals ad did ot get near the accuracy you did in yours. I got a lot better accuracy with ffg. I bought a can of Clean Shot last year and really like it best of all. By the way the is a great looking rifle.

That's the most impressive shooting stick I've seen in a while.
Nicely done and it ain't just eye candy - seems to perform as well as it looks.

Thank you Sir for sharing!

It's pretty good Humannpower. I haven't shot any loads out of it other than the one shown on the target below. There may be a better load for it, but that will do until I get the time or inclination to experiment a bit.

I do most of my shooting with the .54 round ball barrel because home cast balls are so cheap to shoot.

How much would it cost for you to build another .50 cal but with iron sights and scope mounts?

Well Humannpower, the material for the build would run around $250. But unless you're kin to Donald Trump, you wouldn't want to know the labor cost. grin

I built it with a few common hand tools and a bench top drill press, so there were a lot of hours in it. I wouldn't even consider going into the build business. Someone with access to a milling machine could build one a lot more efficiently.

Here's a very long post on another forum where I described the build in detail. http://www.huntingnet.com/forum/black-powder/373029-lets-build-gun.html

Very cool build and an interesting design. Amazing what you were able to do for so little money.

At the very least I think you cut your build short by not going with the 209 primer system so it could be used with blackhorn. It would double or triple the cost, but if I had had your knowhow and tools to do it, I would want to go even farther with a 209 primer and stainless Mcgowan or Pac Nor barrel for shooting smokeless.
