I hope to.. I recently bought an Enfield No1 MK1 that has a scope on it.. also I have a Mosin M44.. but have not had the chance to get out and shoot them... I can see myself trying to take game with them sometime.. I like your Gibbs rifle, very nice.

Don't know a thing about them, but I like the wood on the third picture gun!

You have a pic of your Enfield? I'm going to add scope and mount to mine as well just not sure which no-gunsmith mount to go with yet.

My go to sites for Milsurps and the like is Gunbroker, Classic Firearms, AIM Surplus, and J&G Sales. Can also find good deals on Armslist but you gotta be careful there.

It is a Mosin Nagant 91/30 PU Sniper. Same rifle used by WW2 Russian soldiers. Shoots 7.62x54R, very similar to the 30-06.

You have two that I'd really like to have, I have a couple examples of both just not the scoped models.

Some of what I have hunted with.

One of the Garands I like to hunt hogs with. HRA SG

My youngest daughter's for when she goes with me. SA CG

Sometimes I'll take one of the k98's

Or one of the 24/47 Yugo's.

I'm really thinking about using my Finn M39 mosin this year. It's really been a pleasure to shoot since buying it last March. Would like to get my hands on a Swedish Mauser for 6.5 x 55, I hear good things about that caliber for hunting.

If some animals are good at hunting and others are suitable for hunting, then the Gods must clearly smile on hunting.

I've also heard very good things about the 6.5x55.

My next project is going to be a Garand or M1 Carbine. The Carbine just looks all types of fun. wink

Ive done a lot of milsurps over the years and hunted with many, SMLEs, Springfields, Mausers and Mosys. Mosys are my current passion. I just finished a type 53 Chinese Mosy as a truck gun over the weekend. I got it for a little over a C note including ammo. The gun has a perfect bore and headspace but the stock was pure crap. It shot a 3 shot clover leaf group at 40 yards, so I refinished the stock as much as possible:

Ileft the bayonet on for those charging boars!

We have both, the Garand is a safe queen the carbines are a blast to shoot, not so much for hunting but plinking is awesome. The M14 is also a good one, but bullets can become expensive if you don't pay attention.

I have a sportarized Remington 1903 (1943) that I use for deer hunting. I have 2 M1 Garands, but I've never hunted with them.

Do Sportized Milsurps count? Mosin's are lots of fun.

I had to part with a sporterized K98 Kurz before I left Germany. It was a real shooter. The ATF couldn't verify the serial number because it was made from a mil-surp action with a new barrel. I think they were just lazy and didn't want to do the work to contact the rifle maker who put it together.
