The Robinsons's seem to bath in the stuff, but is there any real practicality to it, (cuts glare off cheek bones etc.) or is it just good for a sticky mess?

I'm sure it has some uses but a mask is best in my opinion.

Its to cover up that white pasty billboard. I like it compared to a mask, makes me feel like Rambo. Going to the lease today...whoohoo!

You don't need it or its useless? I'm actually trying to get some insight on its effectiveness, one way or an other.

If it's really cold I use a mask. If not I burn the end of some cork and rub it on. When you read about duck hunting tips, at the top of the list is staying concealed. So I do everything possible to make sure ducks don't flair. Cork in my opinion is easy to put on and easy to take off, unlike face paint.

I just peek out from underneath the bill of my hat and I have a beard. That black crap is too hard to get off (not directed to Muddy)!

I wonder if these guys wore max-4 pattern facemasks or if they washed their painted faces before taking the picture?

We have so many topics about the face paint in the blind and your right it is very hard to get off, that's why it really should be used as punishment to anyone that can't keep their face down.

My dad always said to just "Keep your D*** pie tin down". Refering to the glare them cheeks can give off. I just use charcol from whats left in my smoker, crush it up to a fine powder. Add a little water and smear. Holds up decently against sweat and rain and washes off pretty easy with a little soap and water.
We interrupt this marriage for hunting season.

Paint sucks because it makes you feel all sticky and then you look like an idiot when you hit the after the hunt breakfast. Masks suck too especially since I wear glasses...they make them fog up if I don't have the mask perfectly lined up with my face. But for me the mask is the lesser of two evils...it does break up the big white area known as your face that can be seen from a long way away. If it's really cold it also keeps you warmer.
So yeah need...no it's not needed...just like most of the stuff we use. Camo in general is not NEEDED...decoys are not NEEDED...you can kill ducks without any one item but add them all together and you will have better hunts.
Dear Lord please bullwhip me for saying this but I agree, Marcstar is in the lead. Please nobody use this as a quote!!!

I think some type of eye black is necessary wether that is using cork as mentioned above or paint (which is tough to get off). Thank goodness I can grow a thick black beard and only have to use a small amount of cork to put on my face! I use a mask if its cold enough! JMO though!

Mask is the only way to go, that face paint is awful and if you forget its there youll get it on everything. Also look like a goober walking into the café with it. A thin tight fitting mask for me

I think looking like a goober at breakfast is the least of most of your social worries. Who cares what you look like when your hunting....maannn! Your out killin'!! Sometimes I think this is a covergirl forum. TAKE UR DRESS OFF SALLY!

Meh, I don't care what I look like... that should be obvious. I got a buddy that loves his face spackle. Whatever, no skin off my arse. To each their own, I just don't like having to deal with it when I can just slip a mask on and be done with it.
