Well I don't have an AK, just an unconverted Saiga in .223. So I'd much rather have any of my ARs over that.
I might be willing to take a nice AK74 though.

I might be willing to take a nice AK74 though. Convert that Saiga!!! I have done a few and it is plain simple and worth every minute of effort.

I ONCE TOOK MY SKS AND DIPPED IN THE STOCK TANK THEN THROUGH IT ON THE GROUND AND KICKED DIRT ON IT. THEN PICKED IT UP AND FIRED 30 ROUNDS THROUGH IT. NOT BAD FOR HUNDRED DOLLAR GUN. THERE NOT THAT CHEAP ANY MORE.
i'm lenny tooman. i'm really not a hunter but a shooter. i still go to the deer lease with my longtime friend.thats how i got started building deer blinds.i was tired of setting in the cold so i started building blinds everyone could afford.

I think, and discuss this a lot. I have both. I would LIKE to have faith in the AR. It is lighter. Smaller mags. More comfy. But in a SHTF scenario, AK ALL DAY! I KNOW that thing will do its job and not pout about conditions or cleaning. I couldnt get 400rds thru my AR w/out cleaning. AK, does not care. Also, regarding accuracy, if you buy a higher quality AK, they are plenty accurate. You cant compare a $2K AR to a $500 Wasr.

I'm going with the AK....they are accurate, reliable and just plain FILTHY!! on a side not from personal experience when they are fired at you, it make you wanna shat your pants!!

AR hands down. Lighter, more accurate easier to repair, and just all around better. I own both and would choose an AR .
