Trying to decide on a scope for a "budget build" 308 i am doing. Lets see what yall think here are my choices....

Nikon ProStaff 4x12x40 159.00
Weaver 40/44 4x12x44 164.00
Vortex Crossfire 4X12X50 189.00
Vortex Diamond 3.5x10x50 239.00
Redfield Revenge 4x12x42 199.00
Leupold Rifleman 4x12x40 249.00
Nikon Buckmaster 4.5x14x40 244.00

Which one would you guys recommend? Did i miss any other good options? Im sure there are some others wondering the same thing about these scopes, keep in mind this is a budget rifle shooting 250yds or less.

Out of the group you've listed, I'd snag the Nikon ProStaff. They allow up to 98% light transmission in compared to the 92% of the "supposedly higher end" Nikon Buckmaster. I'm colorblind and at dusk, my eyesight isn't worth crap. Those little ProStaff's are VERY hard to beat for the money!

Crossfire I a good scope I had the 4-12 and still have 3-9.
I have a weaver 4044 in 6-20x44ao and I ran it against my buddies Swarovski z and I could not tell difference at last light.
I have a pro staff 3-9 and I like it. I can't tell any substantial optical differences in any of them but I am truly impressed with 4044

Look at that Vortex Diamondback. It's a great scope for the money.

Take a look at the Sightron SI or SII's. They have a lot of features for the money, the glass is good, and they are dead-nuts repeatable. I've been shooting them for 7-8 yrs. now with no complaints at all.

Switch the order and put the Vortex on top.

SII or SII Big sky?

I've heard great things about the Big Sky.

Big Sky will be the next one, I have the SII 3-10 right now.

I would say this is probably one of the brightest scopes I have.
