finally found one, should be here Friday, called one of the on line sources and they had ammo bx of 50 for $14.??, ordered 8bxs, got confirmation today. next is a scope. then this fall when the Winchester single shot is available, one of those

I just wish it was centerfire. A new-age .17rem or fireball. Rimfires are played-out IMO.

I just wish it was centerfire. A new-age .17rem or fireball. Rimfires are played-out IMO. try Hornady's 17 Hornet good little round. Ackley sure liked it as a wildcat. Anyone else find it interesting that Winchester is using the same acronym for the new cartridge as a recent family of cartridges WSM Winchester Super Magnum WSM Winchester Short Magnum Hate acro's with multiple meanings.

It's a solution for a problem that never existed. They would have been much better off making it a .22 caliber with a 30-35 grain bullet. The .17 HMR is at 2550 fps so the new WSM doesn't really provide much advantage at distances that the little bullet is worth shooting at something that it could actually kill with regularity.
However, they are cool guns and if you didn't already have a .17 HMR would be a nice addition.
