Bought a ruger 22-250 that has an old wideview 3x9 Redfield scope on it. I want o change the scope out buy can't decide if I should get the Redfield revolution 3x9x40 or a Nikon prostaff 3x9x40. Which is a better scope?

Really don't care for either one of them but if I had to choose I would go with the Nikon.

Of the two I would choose the Nikon.

Both are good scopes for the money. I have a few Nikon scopes and binocs. I've been very happy with them.

Also consider Weaver. Their Classic series is very nice also.

I still have an old Redfield Widefield 3x9 and it is a great scope. It is close to 30 yrs old. I put a new 3x9 Redfield Revolution scope on a 6mm 2.5 yrs ago for family member that it a good scope for the money so far.

Nikon revamped their prostaffs last year. While I only own one, IMHO the glass is better than what is in my Leupold VX-I. Since we know the price range your shopping in, I would seriously consider the Vortex 4-12x40. Super impressed with them, for the money.

For the money Nikon is hard to beat... Warranty is great too from my 1 experience....

both are good scopes for the money IMHO I own and like both. but would have to say I think the Nikon is the better of the two dang good glass for the money

Rifleman, That 22-250 is one heck of a round and one of my favorites. You might even consider Nikon's PROSTAFF 4-12 BDC reticle. The extra magnification can come in handy for really long distance shooting when combined with Nikon's BDC reticle and Spot On Ballistic Program. The PROSTAFF Series of scopes has some of the highest light gathering properties of any scope on the market.
Jack, Sorry to hear you are unhappy with Nikon's warranty, it's been my expperience that it is one of the best in the business. Hard to beat Full Lifetime.....

Yes, I do some freelance work for Nikon but if the product didn't work I wouldn't be putting my anme behind it. I have been using Nikon scopesfor 18 years now, by choice.

Between the two I would choose the Nikon. By doing a quick search it looks like the Nikon might save you a little coin over the Redfield, Nikon has their spot on technology (useful if you are wanting a BDC reticle), and they have recently made improvements on their optics across the board.

Now, if there was a 3rd option I would recommend a Vortex Diamondback, or a Vortex Viper. If you have not had a chance to check their products out see if you can get a scope in your hand.
