up Worst design in history, so since your a tech what caused those meltdowns? I'll expect a valid answer, not some kind of smart azz BS

For the record I had great luck with my 5.9 Cummins but after seeing my bro in laws 6.7 Cummins I wanted no part of that pos, struggles to pull a gooseneck, only gets 11 mpg on the highway and keeps throwing codes. Maybe he just got a pos, I don't know but I wanted no part of it.

The bed had a fifth wheel hitch in it once, does that mean anything to the use and abuse factor? I liked it, but 44,000 bucks was on the sticker! I haven't shopped for trucks since '99, but WOW! I ran it up to about 90mph and smooth as silk, so I like it and I hear that model is the one to have. My question - is the price right? OH, I asked the salesman if it had the heated tailgate as he was showing off the tailgate step. He stopped and looked at me puzzled. I told him it kept you hands warm while you were pushing it and he cracked up. He said he was gonna use that on Chevys.

So guys is this my new truck?

I may be missing it, it it a Lariat or King Ranch? The price sounds kinda high but if its a King Ranch, then it may be about right. A new KR costs about $55K-$60K +

No axe to grind, just had nothing but problems with this one. I drove a v8 f250 for 3 yrs and never had any problems with it. This 6.7 has no top end power on the hwy, and has had too many engine problems. I like the truck but just with my experience with it just would not recomend one. The company I work for has 4 of the 6.7s and out of the four mine has had two engines and another one has had one replaced. The other 3 are 6.4s and thay all have been replaced.

They do knock the power output down on most fleet production vehicles, that is the way It has always been as far as I know. Not sure why it is done, be it cost economy or longevity, but even in the gas powered options their hp and torque outputs have always been "detuned".

May be the difference on it to me on some things. It is a cab and chassis. Never drove one that wasnt.

Everyone has their own opinion of what works and what doesn't.

Most on here claim a dodge 6.7 is junk. I loved mine and know several people who have them and the only complaints they have at all are mileage and the DPF. The ones who actually use them didn't complain about anything and the ones who have chopped the DPF don't complain but brag.

I got my doors blown off yesterday on the way home from work by a 2010 1-ton cummins pullin a triple axle gooseneck you couldn't put another cow in if you woulda tried.

Wow how odd. My truck has a ton of top end power but seems to lack mid range.

Ok so I must be stupid but can one of you guys explain why your companies keep buying these trucks if they are having so many problems? Doesn't make a bit of sense.

I use to have a trailer hooked up all the time hauling horses, cattle and hay. I had a 02 3/4 ton dodge with a cummins and my uncles 6.0s could not keep up with it. Dont know any thing about the 6.7. I like the looks and feel of the fords, but they just have never sold me on the diesels. I have seen way too many failures from them.

If the sticker said $44, then you have room to play and could easily get to $40 or below.

I just went out looking at new 4x4 crew cab 6.7 diesels at the Ford dealership. With all the rebates and incentives and other discounts, I can get a NEW 2013 for about $44-46K AND tack on a 200,000 mile warranty since it is new. And much better financing for new vehicle.

$44K for a 2011 is too high!

My take....as others said you could probably do better on price...but I think you got that now. I would not worry at all about 5th Wheel towing. Guys that tow RVs are not people that hot rod around...the truck has no issues towing things like that...it's what it's built for. So I would look at that as a good thing more than being worried someone wore it out towing.

As far as the Ford F250 6.7....I think they are the best looking 3/4 ton trucks on the market. But for people that use trucks for what they are meant to be used for that really does not mean much other than for someone wanting to look cool. I'm an RVer and often view RV forums and discussions about tow vehicles. I'm seeing more and more people report problems with the 6.7. It's pretty well documented that the 6.0 and 6.4s both had their share of issues to the point where most people that are buying a used diesel will avoid those. Everyone also agrees that the Ford 7.3s were awesome....but they are starting to get pretty old.

There are clearly plenty of people with 6.7s that have had zero issues...so that's a good thing but what is the lemon rate? You could buy the worst vehicle in the world and be one of the lucky few that had no issues or you could buy the most highly rated vehicle based on reliability and be the one unlucky sap that has all kinds of issues...so it's always a gamble I guess.

What I would do is if you get to a point where you are serious about this truck is take it to a 3rd party mechanic and have then do a mechanical inspection. Probably cost you about $100. I've done this before.

I had a guy the other day pass me going over rangerhill on 20 pulling a huge triple axle rv. I was doing 75 and he flew past me. He was in a chevy dually.

Most the rv'er I see are backing traffic up for miles though.

I get passed all the time on 37 by people pulling big 5th wheels doing 80 or so. I think some folks like to pull them faster because it helps maintain a higher speed going up hills.

Not me I slow down when I hook up a big heavy hunk o junk.

That is a little high on the price. I wouldn't get any Ford without doing an EGR delete and DPF delete and tuner. I have a 6.0 powerstroke and all of them but the 7.3 are prone to problems such as blown head gaskets because of it. Ive done mine and have had no other issues. check them out before you buy one.

I have no input on the price of the vehicle the OP was inquiring about but I will add my two cents about the Ford 6.7. Bought mine new - it's a 2011. Have just over 30k miles now. It has been flawless for me.

I have a 2012 6.7. I've had it for 7 months and have put 36k on it. I haven't had a single problem with it so far. Mine has almost no hesitation when you want it to go. I drive pretty aggressively and I get 16.2-16.5 mpg all together (according to the computer). The amount of power the truck has still impresses me every time I get in it. And the def is really no big deal. All that said, 44k seems high. Find a nice one for the right price and you'll love it.

I bought my 2011 6.7L Loaded Lariat 4x4 last August with 34k miles on it for $41k out the door with 120k mile extended warranty. Work on them on the price but other than that it is a great truck!

5.9 cummins all the way. It may not be "New" but you can still find them with little mileage. I'm getting 26 mpg out of mine with a smarty programmer and straight exhaust. They will last you 500k miles if taken care of and doesn't cost $40-50k
