Granddad is coming into town Friday, and he has a "little" surprise he says. He decided to pick me up an AR awhile back and he is bringing it Friday. Found a BSA .223 Sweet on the cheap cheap and am just gonna throw it on until I can get the money for something a little nicer. I want to get my rings/mounts so its ready to run Friday evening. Mounted many a scope on a bolt gun, but I'm completely ignorant when it comes to black guns, so what exactly do I need to pick up to mount the scope? Best place to get what I need? Many thanks fellas

You might want to know the configuration first...........

Two extra high warne rings. Since you have a rail(flat surface). The scope can be leveled pretty good by sliding a small straight edge between the scope and the rifles mounting rail. Most quality scopes have the wires correctly squared to the knobs. So it works good. It won't work on a junk scope. the hairs aint level with the knobs. And thats common.
mount the scope, adjust the eye relief to your most used shooting position. using the straight edge. Make both bottom of the scope turrent housing and rail level with each other. Check to see how the wires look to you. Adjust if need be.
If the eye relief isn't far enough ahead. Then get a scope rail with an forward off set. they sell them from an inch forward up to like 3.5 forward. These mounts are seen alot in three gun AR's. These mounts are usually one piece. And range from like $30 bucks up to $400+. Warnes will run about $60bucks for two.

I would go ahead and spend the extra bucks for the Burris PEPR or Leupold m223 both are great for AR platforms and work well with most scopes 50mm or less. They are available for 1" or 30mm tubes I believe that BSA is 1" Have fun and be safe Cabelas right down the street from ya has em both. I used to live in Justin myself

Contact the guys at Primary Arms, they should be able to point you in the right direction.

Picked up the Nikon P223 two piece mounts yesterday and they are very nice. They retail for $50. I'm happy with the configuration using a 3x9.

Burris Extreme Tactical for me. About $65 at Cabela's. Shop around and you might find them cheaper.

I went with a Nikon monarch, and attached it with the M223 base. Will see how that combo works in about an hour.
