Hey I need some help from some of ya'll pro bow hunters. I just got into last year and have been hunting out of a pop up. I won a Game Tamer TS-30 Tree Stand at the XPC Varmint Contests last year and put it up the other day. I am not to sure it is going to hold me. It has two screws that really don't hold the thing up much plus one chain you tighten around the tree I guess to hold it up to weight. I went ahead and put a rachet tie around it for extra support and drove the clause as far as I could in the tree. If anyone has one of these I would like some input or if anyone has some suggestions before I climb in. My wife was watching me put this thing up and after a heated conversation insisted that I get more life insurance or stick to the pop up. Here is photo of the type of tree stand I am just a little bigger than that guy Thank in advance for the help.

i bought 2 of them for 98.00 each form bk . heck of a deal. had a hard time puting the first up but the second was easy as pie. i like the idea of the side rails and i dont think you could fit 2 people in there, maybe a normal size man and a boy. jmo

Funny, I bought the TS 30 last year and haven't even taken out of the box. But i have 3 buddy's of mine that hunt in Rocksprings and they love them. None of the 3 of them break the 200# mark, but i dont see you having any problems, the best i remeber they have like a 500# rating.

I hate those damn things. Matter of fact, our insurance policy on our ranch will not allow even hunters to bring their own stands of that type on the ranch to use. But that's beside the point. I had two different kinds and I never really felt safe in them. I think that same company has some tripod or quad stands that are pretty light weight.

Personally, I'd donate the thing to someone and buy a tripod or a quadpod or a good pop up blind.

Put me first in line for the donation, I'll even pay ya something for it! I've hunted from one, and re-hung one. The attachment hardware doesn't look like much, but unless the "T-screw" pulls out of the tree, it really can't go anywhere? Just incase, and always, wear a safety harness.

I one similar and when I had a place to put it, I felt safe. At the time, I weighed 200 and am 6'. Today I'm about 25lbs heavier and would still use it.

You should have gotten a T type screw to screw into the tree, onece in, you tighten down the chain around the tree. It won't be going anywhere. The big thing is to make sure you are putting it on a healthy tree.

Now keep in mind I always felt safe, but I never went up with our my safty harness. Don't fool with a belt, get a good quality harness.

Goodluck

Don't worry about me bring that stand with 7mag I just put it for sale or trade. I know about your trees out that way. I think I might be alittle taller than them.

GameTamer stands are some of the best made. The one TGil mentioned hunting out of has been in the same mesquite for seven years. Once you get the hang of setting one up, you'll find that they are comfy and very sturdy.

I'd use the T-screws, the chain, and 2 rachet straps to be for sure.

Wise choice if you ask me. I don't like stands like those. Our insurance won't even cover a hunter using their own stand of that type on any of our hunts. I used to have some of those for myself years ago but since went to tripod stands or quad stands or pop up blinds.

i use one of those lean-to 2 person stands from academy... i have used it for 3 years and it's still working fine. heading out saturday with my 200 lb butt and my buddy's 240 lb butt. we both sat in it comfortably the other day without any problems whatsoever. didn't budge an inch.
