I've been making a few stick tang knives lately, in case I ever decide to work toward ABS certification. This knife is stock removal 3/16 1080 carbon steel with a 400 grit satin finish. The guard is brass, with a good press fit. The handle is mesquite from Brandon's grandma's ranch. Filework is double cut wave. OAL is 8.5 with a blade of 3.75 inches.

Say, that is a good looking knife! For the most part just a plain, simple, functional piece of equipment.....

I love that mesquite handle on that knife, it all fits perfectly together.

That's what I was shooting for. Sometimes we shoot for fancy details, mirror polish, dovetails, all that jazz. On this one I was shooting for super fit/finish on a usable knife. This was the first knife I cleaned up since I got my Bruce Bump file guide. I didn't get a pic that shows it, but the plunges on this one are dead even. As another checkpoint, look at the front and back pics, at the point where the plunge comes toward the spine. If I got it right, the top of each plunge should be the same distance from the guard on both sides.
