Most of the deer I have ever shot have been standing under a feeder. Still see lots of deer. Sometimes even with a deer dead an laying there. Low fence deer aren't real smart.

I have shot does off of one.
I didn't learn this by seeing it on TV, I learned it by doing it.

Shoot I don't have anything against it, just most ranches don't have their blinds set up over protein stations. we were always taught not to hunt over them. this ranch i was on, has a corn feeder and a protein feeder in the same pen. it was kinda strange seeing the buck i shot jump into the pen, ignore the corn, then nibble on some protein before exiting the pen and walk over to the road, where he subsiquently met his demise.

Regardless of fence height if the protein feeder is in a AR county you have to let the deer get at least 21' from the feeder before shooting it.

Boy I hope that is a joke...never heard that one before though. As I mentioned in this thread before, the point of not shooting over a protein feeder is to allow the deer to get comfortable going to the protein. If you have a buck/doe you want to shoot and he/she is alone, there should be no concern shooting it over protein since that buck/doe won't be worrying about going back to the feeder anyway. Now, if your shot isn't true, you got bigger issue to worry about than whether to shoot over a protein feeder

I don't think deer could care less if they are shot under a protein feeder, corh feeder, salt or mineral lick. Dead deer tell no lies.

I shoot turtles at our catfish feeder. It goes off in the evening and catfish and turtles come like crazy!!! When he fish are done eating I sometimes shoot the turtles. Scares the fish for a few days but they always come back.

It ain't fair chase shooting turtles eating at a feeder. It's prolly a high fence tank, too.

Never shot a deer at a protein feeder, but not saying I wouldnt. I dont see the difference in shooting one at a corn feeder or a protein feeder. Just my opinion
What you really need is a 300 Winchester Magnum. That is the best caliber on the planet, probably even in the solar system and maybe the universe. Go get him! Shoot him in the face!
