The earlier that TPWD releases it the earlier the fees are mailed in smile

Thanks. Glad to see Legis did not divert rob all the money yet. Just enough to get by with no room for improvements and money for growth. hammer

Its wait and see on what cuts they will have to make on Public Lands Hunts Program. We are losing Public lands instead of gaining like we should be with the increase in gun/ammo excise tax. They are always against the Federal Money, but then they grab it, rob it, and put in GAO. Then Legis forgets about the hunters sportsman that paid in with all the license, permit, gate fees, and taxes. confused2 hammer

QUESTION - how do you ensure an alligator is 5ft or less if you're bowhunting them in the new Alligator Management hunt?

To be sure of hitting the target, shoot first and call whatever you hit the target.

It's kind of like antler restrictions. If you find out that you misjudged it just tie a big rock to it, sink it to the bottom, and try again.

Just kidding. That is a good question. How do you tell the length of a gator if only the head is visible?

You get the opportunity to hunt different areas of the state that may be unavailable due to pricing, etc. I was drawn for the Management Deer hunt on James Daughtry last year and while I didn't bring one home (couldn't pull trigger on a "maybe")I did have a great time in an area that I otherwise couldn't afford to hunt. Love that area of Texas. It's always worth the three bucks to apply

IMPORTANT CHANGES FOR 2013

The United State Postal Service may no longer process mail on Saturdays. Allow for additional mail delivery time when submitting
applications. Applications must be at the Austin Headquarters by 5:00 p.m. on the due date. Late applications will be disqualified and
application fees are non-refundable.

The Kerr Wildlife Management Area (WMA) will be conducting white-tailed deer research during the 2013 hunting season. Select white-tailed
deer (buck and antlerless) will be outfitted with telemetry collars and MAY NOT BE HARVESTED during any public hunt. Applicants should
consider this restriction before applying for the Gun Deer; Either Sex (GDE) and Gun Deer Management (GDM) hunts at the Kerr WMA.

Another state forest – the John Henry Kirby State Forest – and Bastrop State park will be offering drawn youth hunts this season. Also,
Government Canyon State Natural Area will be offering archery exotic and feral hog hunts.

For the most up-to-date information on changes to the public hunt schedule or access and availability of department public lands, visit
www.tpwd.state.tx.us/huntwild/hunt/public/, sign up for e-mail updates or follow us on facebook at www.facebook.com/TPWDhunt.
Individuals can also call 800/792-1112 menu 5 (Wildlife), selection 1 (Wildlife Information).

I could have swore that I read last year that we would be an online application system available this year in addition to the traditional option of sending it in via mail. Does anyone else remember hearing or seeing something about that?

Yes it was supposed to happen but:
There were cuts and several lay offs in TPWD due to funding cuts and diversion of funds by Legis.. Goggle TPWD +diversion of funds

The private lands hunt choices have been whittled down substantially. Very disappointing. Joshua and I were drawn last year for a doe hunt with Plaska Lodge in Hall county and had a great time. Crying shame as much money as we hunters pump into the system, this is what we get back.

Yep even more revenue off of the increased excise taxes going into GAO, and being diverted from the TPWD funds the past years.
Business is Booming tho.
