I was looking for some thoughts on this. I have a Leupold 1.5-5x20 MR/T with a Burris PEPR mount on an AR15.
I like to sight my .223s in at 50 yards. With the elevation all the way bottomed out it was still shooting 3-4" high with 55 gr .223 ammo. I moved the mount as far forward on the flat top as it would go and got it to 1" high. Due to the ballistics with the bullet still rising of course it's worse at 100 yards.
With 62 gr 5.56 it was even worse, I'm guessing due to the heavier bullet leaving the barrel later in the recoil impulse.
The mount is 1" high from the rail top to the bottom of the ring, which is a fairly common height on ARs. If I adjust the scope up the POI moves up throughout its adjustment range so I don't think there is anything wrong with the scope. I guess I could put one of my other scopes on it to confirm that.
Any thoughts on this? If the scope proves to be fine and I get a higher or lower mount, how will this effect the POI? Since the objective is only 20mm, there is room to go either way. I don't really want to shim the scope in the mount to get it zeroed.
I am not totally opposed to getting regular separate rings as opposed to a 1-piece mount. Maybe Burris Signature Zee rings would fix the problem?

I guess I should add that the twist of the barrel on this rifle is 1-7 so I would like to be able to shoot bullets heavier than 55 grain for improved accuracy.

I have the same scope except its in a bobro mount. I think the first thing I would do is get a new mount. What dial is on top? Mine has the 62gr and shoots lights out to 500yrds. You might have to send it back to leupold. The customer service is first class.

Well it turns out there is a hard stop that you can get past by loosening the set screws and pulling up on the turret as you turn it. I did that and I have more adjustment in that direction now. I guess it's to prevent more than 1 rotation of the turret in the field possibly causing damage to the scope. Per the manual sometimes it's necessary to go past the hard stop to get it sighted in.

I guess when in doubt, RTFM.

Thanks for the responses guys. I'm guessing my relatively cheap Chinese Burris mount is the reason I had to do this. It's a 2" forward offset mount so I didn't really want to reverse it. I'll probably upgrade sometime later.
