I just bought one today in .270 because I have never felt an action that was that smooth. Has anybody else fired a Sako or Tikka before? This gun is also very light. I'll take it to the range this weekend, but man It's nice.

I've shot a 270 White Tail Hunter wood stocked Standard Grade for the last 4 years and it is my everyday go to deer rifle. If I muff a shot I trust the rifle enough to know it was my fault and not the rifles.
The barreled action is the same as a T3 but the furniture and mag release is different.

I have a Tikka 7 mag and love it...I'd love to have a cabinet full of Tikkas in different calibers.

If you ever get the chance, work a Nesika Bay action. I handled one at the shot show in January, and man was it smooth.

I am in the process of getting a Sako 243 Finnlight myself.

I have a Sako 75 Hunter in 7mm Ultra Mag. I love the gun. It is very smooth. My buddy has a T3 in 270 WSM and I have shot it, and it is very accurate as well. I want the laminate stainless model in 300 WSM.

I have a WhiteTail Hunter Syn/Blu in 243 Win. Topped w/Nikon 3-9x40 Buckmaster scope.
Absolutely Love it
The T-3 feels short to me compared to my gun.

After reading this I set my model 700 BDL up next to my new Tikka T3 and eyeballed em. Stock wise they are the same length. Barrel length the 700 is about 5/8 inch longer.

I just put a 3x9 Leupold Vari XII on my Tikka, bore sighted it and loaded up a bunch of rounds, put on a new sling, and set the trigger for 2lbs. I'm heading to the range tomorrow to see how it stacks in. I hate breaking in a new barrel. Anybody have any advice for breaking in these Finnish guns or is it SOP?

Don't know where you are in Fort Worth but just wanted to put in a plug for Rock Creek Shooting Range in Joshua.
I have always shot up the road. Don't want to mention the name of the range but if you have been there you know how hard to get along with they are. They always treat you like you are dumber than dirt.
Anyway... the folks out at Rock Creek are super!

I am not associated with them in any way.. just like to see good people get the business.

I am a member at Haltom City Pistol and Rifle club. Its over on 121 and Minnis drive next to the old city dump. It's about 15 minutes from my house, or about 5 from where I work. I've heard Rock Creek was nice....How much do they charge? I can shoot just about any day all day long for 75 bucks a year at my club.

Broke mine in with 1 shot 1 clean for 5, Then 3 & clean for 15. Finally 5 & clean, all total 40 shots.
I J.B. Bore Paste the barrel 250 in/out strokes.
Shoots boattail bullets great. Flat base not as good.
A friend has a Sako 25/06 and he broke it in the way a barrel make had told him. Don't recall the maker, but his way is more time consuming.
Good Luck with your new Tikka.

Wow...for a gun out of the box these Tikka's are amazing. I was shooting factory winchester 130 grn power points I picked up at Academy for $12.97 a box and was shooting 1/2 inch groups at 100 yards. I have two groups of three shots all just about touching. Either factory ammunition has come a long ways or these guns are just that good. I was so impressed I used these cheap bullets to bag the Tikka's first deer and she went down in her tracks. I think I'm going to go buy another one. I love this rifle.

It is a combo of the two, Jeff. Factory stuff has gotten a lot better in the last few years...but that Tikka is a fine rifle. Every one that I've shot has been accurate and slick. They are NICE!
