Ok I think I'm onto something here so bare with me. I have a Remington 700 ADL in 270 that I promised to never get rid of because it was a gift from the misses. What would it take to change this action to a .257 weatherby mag and put a heavy barrelon it? Can it be done?

It would be a lot cheaper to screw a 25/06 barrel on it. 257 WM would require enlarging the bolt face and opening the feeding rails. 25/06 is a great Texas hunting cartridge and will get you close to 257 WM performance. Or, if you are a reloader, you could go with a 25/06 AI, and get even closer to the WM performance.

If you want the option of converting it back to 270 Win, you would need a seperate bolt with a magnum bolt face. You will need a different magazine box to feed the larger mag case. Then the barrel chambered in 257 WM. In a nut shell, it will be about the same cost to convert this rifle as it would be to just get a second rifle in 257 WM.
