Nice bear!
Now for the most controversial statement since the compound/recurve debate: I hate mechanical broadheads.
I learned long ago you can't reason someone out of something they don't reason themselves into.

Now for the most controversial statement since the compound/recurve debate: I hate mechanical broadheads. hard to argue with the results. I'm prefer the sidewinders to the rage but I'm on board with mechicals. this guy has killed antelope at 70 + yards and a mule deer at 93 yards with mechanicals so I am a believer in them

Bears are an animal that take cajones to shoot with a bow. When they're hit, sometimes they run, but sometimes they just stand up on their hind legs and search furiously for their attacker.

Nice. Where did his shot hit the bear? Low. Hit right where he was aiming but turned out it was low. Didn't hit any vitals but was a big enough hole to bleed it out over the course of a mile

Bears are an animal that take cajones to shoot with a bow. When they're hit, sometimes they run, but sometimes they just stand up on their hind legs and search furiously for their attacker. according to him, when they called off the search last nite, the bear was still alive. they came back this morning and found it and had seen where it had laid up on the trail waiting for whatever was following him to appear so he could ambush it. I never knew bears were that smart

That's a big bear! Huge head! Glad you got him and made the decision to back off and wait til the next morning.
As for the mechanical discussion, for something like a whitetail, goat or blackbuck, it doesn't really matter what you shoot. Just focus on placement. With today's bows you're going to blow through them with whatever broadhead you shoot. For the big animals though like Elk or Moose or the tough African game animals or big bears like this one, I prefer fixed blade with a chisel point. But that's me.

Maybe a dumb question but is that a black bear? Looks a lot bigger than the black bears I've seen in New Mexico.

Maybe a dumb question but is that a black bear? Looks a lot bigger than the black bears I've seen in New Mexico. it is. he has killed two one he has mounted in his office and it isn't that big. maybe 200 some odd pounds. this one is probably twice as big. Dude isn't a little guy either 6' 190 so that gives you some scale. he normally dosen't smile in his picturs either so for him to be grinning means its a whopper
