Back in the mid-1960s, Russia sent an envoy to the US. He was supposed to observe the state of technology in the US. He visited around different states and then returned to Russia.
He was in a meeting with his supervisors. One ask about the cities. With a long face the fellow responded that there were very tall buildings and a lot of them in many cities.
So they asked about farming. His reply was the farms are huge and one or to people run the whole thing with large machines.
What about transportation? Again, they have very busy, large airports. The trains carry some people but a lot of commerce is transported on trains.
And the cars and trucks? Ah comrade, we have the advantage on them there. Everyone of the cars and trucks was pushed by a boat.
