Any of you bird hunters have a hunting Weimaraner? My son has a Male Weimaraner, 2 1/2 years old. Grandparents and parents are from Hamilton. A hunting dog first and pet second. You do not see many of them in Texas in the bird hunting areas we go to. Beautiful dog, but """HEADSTRONG'.'' He has won some field trials in the past.

I've never had on but I hunted with a guy in west Texas that had 2. I gave him a lot of ribbing when he unloaded them, but by mid morning I was eating my words. Those two dogs were every bit as good as my german shorthairs.

My buddy has one of these dogs... it is a beautiful and incredibly intelligent and a good all around dog. I have see him hunt upland and retrieve waterfowl. The thing I like about them is their personality... they seem to have feelings. I know that his gets his feelings hurt and pouts if he uses a shock coller. I like the weimaraner, but they are a little too high maintenance for me to want to own one...
