I just bought some 9mm at my favorite shop. $13.99 a box of 50 American Eagle, FMJ 115gr. Granted, there was not a full shelf, but it was still on the shelf. I know of folks who didn't even own the caliber of gun they were buying ammo for just to buy it. I think some of them are going to take it in the shorts! Anyone else seeing the prices come back down?

I constantly see bricks of 22LR at Cabelas for 22 dollars a box of 550 or so. 9mm for about 13 dollars, 5.56 (223) for around 8-10 dollars a box, etc...

I still see people on the Trading forum trying to offload .223 ammo at .70 cents a round for FMJ when I can buy it at the store for less than .40 cents a round.

They are beginning to take it in the shorts. I hope they take a bath in it. Buying ammo that they didn't need or didn't even have the gun to shoot it, just trying to resell it for a insane profit.

I liked seeing AR-15's for under 1000 dollars at the stores and seeing these people on the forums trying to sell them for 1200 dollars! I hope they take a huge hit on it.

The imaginary crisis is slowing down to be sure. The ammo shelves are still picked clean every day at Academy near my work though.

A few types of ammo are still hard to come by but that's to be expected.

This is the other side of the equation. When everybody is freaking out and crying foul on "PRICE GOUGING!!!!", you have to remember that if there isn't a real shortage in supply, a lot of these folks that bought with the intent to sell much higher aren't going to be able to unload their inventory.

I'd also recommend just never buying from CTD again, so that they know there's a price to their practices.

Imaginary crisis?? really, ask CO, NY, IL, MO, CA about the imaginary crisis that has resulted in a serious loss in 2amendment rights! I will agree that 2008 "crisis" was based on the though that BO would assult 2nd ammendment rights in his first term, thus the run on everything, and nothing came of it...big deal, couple months of high prices and ammo shortages on mainly .223, but things quickly calmed down as there was no actions that proved a "crisis" existed. This time its way different, Pez and his vep have been actively pursuing gun legislation for the whole country, he has been signing executive orders, states all across this great Union have been passing laws that are turing lawful gun owners into criminals for possessing what was legal just a few months prior. I am so sick of hearing people saying, "aww this is just a baseless hyped crisis that will pass like before" or crying about ammo shortages being all for nothing. One day maybe you will wake up to the ACTUAL assult on our gun rights that is CURRENTLY taking place and realize the shortages and prices that go with it are not just hype but REAL concerns based on REAL actions governments are taking and still wanting to take.

Agree with CTD, I will never step foot in that place again!

And when did .50 or .66 cents a round become a fair price. That might be MARKET price, but dang sure isn't a FAIR price. Hope they choke on it when they have to eat it.

I was unable to get any 22LR's at Walmart or Academy yesterday.

I have no problem with people that really beleive they need the ammo for themselves. The rest that do this for profit are pieces of SH!T. I hope they get it handed to them.

Market price is the only price that's fair. "Fair" as you're laying it out there is an impossible figure to define as what you consider "fair" your neighbor may consider a ripoff and his neighbor may consider a steal.

If the inventory is turning over you cannot argue that it isn't a fair price. It wouldn't be fair to the retailers to sell it for less than market.

I'm going to start waiting at the grocery store and buying up every gallon of milk that is stocked on the shelves and have my wife sell it outside in a refrigerated van for twice the price. If they only place they can get it is from me for twice the price is that fair??

I just don't look at ammo as a luxury item. I mean if I can't get an AR-15 at least I can go find a bolt action somewhere. Not really any alternative when the working man can't go to the store until after 6:00 when the shelves are empty.

If you're buying for personal use, more power to you. If you're buying it to resell at a profit, you are the problem.

The prices and supply are SLOWLY coming back to normal. If no one has said it I will prices for ar's are constantly being updated as "price reduction" guys are going to take a big hit on their "investments". The thing hardest to come by is reloading components. They usually take the longest. Give it several months and things will start to resemble normal trends. The guys still trying to hold out for inflated prices are not moving their stuff.

No you're not, because there's ample supply of milk and you don't have the billions of dollars you'd need to do so. You'd get raped financially if you ever tried.

And you may not consider ammo a luxury, but it is exactly that unless you need it to perform your job. Requiring ammo to sharpen your shooting skills is the definition of a luxury.

And again, buying and selling at a profit is what America was built on. You don't like it? Wait in line like they did.

Well I have seen online ammo websites, in the last few days, that are still charging exorbitant prices. One site (I forget which one) was charging $90 for a brick of .22lr.

So what? Don't buy it. If prices stay there it's because plenty of people are still buying at those prices.

If people aren't, prices will fall. A store doesn't have to sell anything for less than the absolute highest price they can get for it. If their customer base perceives that as gouging, they'll pay a dear price on the back end, but it's still their choice to do so.

Ammo to a certain point isn't a luxury it's a means of protection, and if shtf a way to obtain food via hunting. What is a luxury is buying/ making ammo to go ring some steels every other day.

There is still plenty of ammo on the shelves at cheap prices.

It just may not be the caliber you want. Demanding exact calibers when/where you want it for whatever price you deem "fair" is 100% an absolute luxury. You may not be able to buy your .22 or .308, but you can dang sure find .270 or 30-06 anywhere you please. If you can't afford to buy a cheapo of another caliber, you have no business buying ammunition anyway. About 2000 things more important on your checklist.

Probably .000001% of people rely on hunting for their sustenance in this day an age. "Putting food on the table" isn't a reasonable argument.
