Second time I have seen this guy riding his bicycle to StarBucks, he is well known in there and liked. He is like 6'3 and is very muscular, big Elton John looking sun glasses, tight bright neon clothes! Different but interesting?
Do you have characters like this in your area??

Had one...lived one the streets, matched around town in colorful clothes and a baton if he wasn't riding his bike around. He died probably 7 yrs ago and come to find out the guy was filthy rich but off his rocker.

Used to be a guy in San Antonio dressed in full-on cowboy gear complete with rope and saddle that used to walk around town. Here in Abilene, we had a guy named Terry Berry that used to walk all over town wearing short cut-offs, a t-shirt, and knee-high tube socks. He looked like he belonged in a 70's roller-disco, but was a real nice guy. He danced with a train close to our shop after his best friend died.

Thank God that we live in a country where we can express ourselves any way we want. Thank a vet for that!

I talked to him once when we servicing the Mexican restaurant behind his apartment complex. He said he started walking after a cancers scare. The cancer was eliminated but he kept walking. I must admit, until I talked to him, I thought he was a gigolo or something. He looked like he was stuck in the 70's. You are right though toolman, he was a very nice guy. I hated to see him go like that. Every town has that one person that stirs interest and speculation...he was ours.

There used to be another one that was in our neighborhood, it was at least 20 years ago. Always wore a dingy jumpsuit and had a neck collar brace on. Rarely spoke to anyone, looked more homeless than anything else. But he lived on the 1300 block of Fannin St. A few years before he passed on I found out he was a WWII vet, and had been a Captain that was awarded the Sliver Star. When he came home he became a recluse, unable to rejoin society.

There used to be one in Stephenville, might still be. He lied at the home for people that are a little out there. But he walked all over the place in a long black duster coat with a big giant cigar. He would sometimes make drawings and he was very talented.

Theres on in Mineral Wells that is funny as a rubber crutch. People call him crazy walking Billy. He flips off everything and everyone he sees. He flips off the light poles, the sky, dogs, cats, EVERYTHING. Usually followed by a big F YOU!!!!!

There was one when I was growing up in Azle. He always wore a long and very thick coat..every day of the year. He would be walking through town just yelling and cussing at nothing.

Yeah where I live it is just the family neighborhoods. Knew some freaks when I lived in a warehouse 20 years ago in Deep Ellum.

Actually he is in Dallas right before you get to Richardson. He is on Campbell rd. heading east towards Coit rd. This is the S.W. corner of that intersection.

Thought so. I used to work out at that 24Hr fitness. Guess I just never could figure out where the line between Dallas and Richardson was.

True thankyou for your service Bob! But the way you express yourself is borderline sometimes...your legs and short skirt just don't work! duel

He looked like Thurston Howell the third. One day I looked out on the lot and he was laying on the blacktop. I ran out there to see if he was OK, he said "yeah I'm OK, I'm just looking for Dallas". I told him, "Buddy, you see those skyscrapers over there? You're smack-dab in the middle of it". I helped him up and he walked away. Never saw him again. confused2

We had a couple growing up:

Edwin- Played a toy guitar and wore a kid's cowboy hat. Very sweet and loved by everyone as he would ask "Ting you a song?" and twang his little guitar.

Herman- Very vision impaired and would carry an orange flag and just start out walking across US Hwy 59 going to/from his home to town. Wore overalls. He never stopped. I can still hear the big semis locking up their brakes and smoking their tires. God's hand was on him though as he died of old age.

The "Andy Griffith" show was pretty spot-on with how I grew up-complete with the "characters". smile
